Yeah, Darin has been bugging me about lifting the carpet since last year when I started doing the rust fixes.

I'm appreciating the welding skill. Nice work Doax! You sure don't need any advice from me. I've got to get a better MIG welder. Ida bird pooped these seams to pieces with mine. DeeJaaa, I seem to need cosmoline alot and finding it was frusterating me to no end so the idea of homemade cosmoline was kind of an act of desperation. After replacing the bottom 4 inches of graham crackers from my 61 Beetle I blasted the whole car with coal slag and sprayed cold galvanizing spray on the floor pan areas. Then I used self etching primer, paint, rattle can rubberized bed liner and finally paint, again, just to be sure rock chips wouldn't penetrate the layers

Not sure how you would incorporate composites into a steel unibody structure with any strength retention.

It helps to have a decent vise and a piece or railroad track when it comes to shaping metal.
The curved piece is some aluminum siding, I'm playing with. It started out flat.

Would any shop offer a cheap paint job (after proper rust treatment) seeing as the car is small? Less paint??

Body work isn't cheap, period. Definitely not worth it on this $1200 car. I'll patch in some panels and do a decent job. Any trip to the body shop is going to be in the hundreds of dollar range. I'm simply unwilling to spend that.
