hydrogen cell or generator

does it draw 30 amps or make 30 amps?

if it is a cell i would be interested in how you made it.

Here's a link to a site regarding a new Mercedes Benz concept car. Mercedes designers looked to the Boxfish for aerodynamic inspiration.

It may be worthwhile noting that this concept car as well as the new hybrid Toyotas (specifically the Yaris and Prius) are very tall vehicles. I just recently noticed this around campus. They are significantly higher than camrys civics and even the new Honda Fits. To me, adding height to a vehicle would seem as if it would help to Increase drag. However, it may be that because the car is tall it doesn't need to be as long and therefore it doesn't need to be in contact with as much air as a longer vehicle...if that makes sense.

It takes anywhere from 0 to 30 amps draw. It has a PWM you control what amps you run. here is jeep forum .com trying it out

Here is another, simpler body mod idea. The brown color of the body panels indicates that they could be made from cardboard for testing. This design focuses on pushing the air around the car rather than under like my previous idea.

Thumbs up

Wow, I am truly impressed. You are my kind of guy, you go past just talking about something and go out and do it. A lot of people don't do anything beyond the talking phase (I'm worse, I don't always get past thinking about stuff).

You have given me a lot of ideas for my '89 Subaru GL 4x4 Wagon. Similar underside at a different scale. But it still has 9 inches of clearance underneath with lots of stuff hanging down. Unfortunately, my halfshafts are spinning in the air instead of running through tubes, so your sweet idea of tripping the airflow under them isn't applicable. But I will definitely look into attaching some sheet metal to the factory skid plate for airflow. Airdams just don't work the same on 4x4's, too much air rushing underneath the vehicle elsewhere.

P.S. - Your vehicle will have a MPG sweet spot where the engine is operating more effeciently, even if you are pushing some more air at a higher vehicle speed. That's what's nice about the scangauge; you can see where you are getting the best efficiency instead of blindly applying slower is better (which is true 90% of the time ).

And the mechanical fan is a BIG draw of horsepower (think 5-10 hp+). You can get one of those metal flexing fan blades from Summit racing that lower their profile when the revs increase, you still push air but with more efficiency. And the grill block can harm you if it makes the clutch lock up more for the fan. Best case scenario is to get single or dual electric fans that run off A/C signal and/or a thermocouple.

An update on a few things.

I've added to the grill block now that it's getting colder(highs around 55F lately). I filled the middle opening and added partial covers over the ends(engine air intake is on the drivers side). Even after the blocks it still leaves about 48sq in of intake for the engine. which according to the nascar 4sq in per 25hp should be good for a 300hp engine. Haven't had time to fully test it but I took it from a cold start around the block and it looks like it will take a little over 2miles for it to warm up(was 55F at the time).

I'm also headed up to Minn this weekend so I'm running a test with cardboard covering over the opening to the rear bumper. I figure now that I have the flow traveling down most of the way It's probably affecting the mileage more then before.
