Just so you're aware - do you realize that your photos are what I'm using as reference material for my build I'm doing with my buddies?

I don't know if I'll need the snubber, and I don't need the current, I have one of the SMD ones!

Still good stuff!

To be honest, I have the PCB - haven't ordered the chip yet. it's only 8 pins, and I've soldered SMD before; this one will be a milk run compared to some things I've done.

Thanks for the encouragement! I want to place my parts order all at once to save on shipping, but haven't set down at the PC long enough to go through the whole BoM and order it all in one shot. Sick kids, other projects, chores, etc.

The first thing i'm impressed with is driving two large motors. In theory , the very low inductance might cause problems with the response of the pi loop in the micro. Glad to see it worked ok for you. I'm running two motors in the motorcycle so its nice to know. What traction voltage were you running? Did the heatsink get warm? Was the scope on the gate emitter? If so thats one text book waveform you got there You might crank up the time base and zoom in on the switch off tail to see if it is ringing.

Lou your high side igbt is shorted? What i would suggest is to try again but leave out that diode system you were using and just short gate to emitter. I've done this with 3 controllers to date and no issues. Currently doing it to 4 and 5 right now.

Could be easier and cheaper on your end to call them rather than actually going over.

Seeing that Volt ad just reminded me of "happy" news this morning Chevy Volt spent $millions$ and has sold 125. That Salinas Triac electric car builder cost the city a half million dollars, closed the business - yelled bankrupt; and walked away- disappeared in the sunset. After Aptera, Alius, Zap, Th!nk, and City-El not making it - I don't feel too bad. I am retired and lost my condo due to red-tags; so I lost my garage with my electric trike in it. Had to write it off: thousands of dollars out the window. Workshop down the drain. All I can do is smile and be happy I got the Aspire out! Keep a stiff upper lip Lou! Good things take time.

Should be ok. Lead acid is particularly forgiving. Especially FLA. Glad to hear things are looking up. I know what it can be like!

I would be the connection of IGBT capacitor. Looks a bit long and thin. Inductance here is really bad. That said, theory of justice. I was told that my controller does not move the car before blowing three feet.
