This works surprisingly well in my Miata. Trip odometer at the various tick marks represents 50-55 mpg at fill-up time. (I do have an MPGuino -- which would also work in your Metro, if you don't have one yet -- but mine has an electrical fault and randomly resets, so it doesn't save tank data.)

If the odometer is off, you can just apply the appropriate correction when you do your MPG calcs.

Welp remember how I kept yammering about my IAC valve? Well my "rebuild" failed entirely. Fortunately I had the foreskin to avoid cancelling my order for a tested used one, so that new one is installed. No more 1500rpm idle.

A reference to the YouTube channel AvE, who has the most wonderful canadiamerican dialect I’ve ever heard. One of his regular verbal jokes is replacing foresight with foreskin because haha wiener humor.

Did another road trip yesterday. Will post fuel numbers when I get back at the end of today.

I’ll skip the exact numbers to say I got a hair over 47mpg on the same road trip as before. I guess this is what the car does on highway driving. As soon as I build my garage in the next couple weeks I’ll order the parts for the engine rebuild.

Garage space is important. Do you have a plan?

Yeah, it might be a bit underwhelming though. I bought 200sqft of pavers and a harbor freight portable garage tent thing. Once I get that assembled I’ll buy a couple of lights and a workbench in order to work on the motor. It’s so light I’m not even going to get a hoist, just gonna manhandle it onto the stand. There should be plenty of space in the “garage” to hold the car and the workspace.

I've had a 10x20ft six legged canopy for years. It used to be on 10ft legs over my motorhome when I had one. Now it's reduced to ½-width with bent legs and covered with corrugated metal instead of that tarp, about 6x12ft.

Are you going to level the ground with sand to get a nice even floor?
