Side View Mirror Replacement for under 8 dollars!

I got this blind spot mirror on ebay for $7.44 with free shipping, and there are several sellers that offer them for around that price. I opted for the cheapest Buy It Now that I could find, which ended up with a 2 week wait for it to ship from Hong Kong... but whatever...

It is meant to mount on top of the stock side mirror and can be adjusted to remove blind spots:

The way that the mounting bracket was attached, it would have placed the mirror too far forward on the car, so I flipped the bracket to bring the mirror closer to the driver. It was pretty simple, I just used a screwdriver to pop the mirror out and there were two nuts inside and then I just turned the bracket around and put it back together:

There were holes in the sheetmetal already for the mounts and wiring for my stock mirror so I just put the bracket through one of those and screwed it into place The mirror is completely adjustable and pivots just like a traditional side mirror, which made getting the right view very simple.

All that's left is to cut some coroplast to cover up the holes left by the stock mirror:

Very nice! Seems like an excellent stock mirror replacement, offering both a much reduced cross-section while also meeting legal requirements for most (maybe even all?) states!

Great find, & thanks for sharing!!

Sean -

Thanks! I think I will do this for my passenger side because I want to see the curb when I parallel park.

2 questions...

Does it come in silver and are all side mirrors as easy to replace as yours?

I guess what I'm asking for is a link to what you searched for on ebay.

Thanks for all the kind comments

On eBay I did a simple search for: side mirror (or blind spot mirror)

Then I just sorted by lowest price first. I'd give you a link to the auction I won but first off I can't copy the link on my iPod to paste here, plus a link to a finished auction wouldn't really be too helpful.

Both of those simple searches result in bunches of results starting at about $0.99.
But this seems to be the item.

Hi Sean,

I just ordered one -- the seller only lets you buy one (at a time?), so if it helps on the passenger's side, I'll try it out on the driver's side. And then order another before they sell out.

Free shipping and handling, BTW.
