You know your an ecomodder when...

Your biggest concern, when lending your teenager the car, is the act lowering the vehicles lifetime MPG.

HEH, my first thought was about the high percentage/odds of it not being returned to me in one piece!! That's how/why my wife and i are now on TDI Beetle #2...! The 2001 regularly got better mpg then the 04... :{

My girlfriend averages almost 50mpg in her Fit. She knows fewer tricks but is probably more self-disciplined about driving conservatively than I am.

You know you're an ecomodder when you buy a high performance engine to swap into your car, and then spend more than the cost of the engine on a new set of gears to make sure it's still slow.

...when you're not that bummed that the owner of the semi-unicorn Mazda6 wagon with V6 and stick never called you back, because you ended up with a nice, analog car which is also a good platform for MPG.

choo choo!

... when you see that a VERY bumpy railway crossing that you use often is being rebuilt, and your first thought is how it will save gas.

I won't have to slow to a crawl to cross the tracks (to avoid ripping the suspension out of the car!) and then accelerate again to get to my next turn.

cop talk

... when you roll up to a random impaired driving driving check, and the two police officers spend more time talking to you about your coroplast aeromods (What are they for? How much do they help? Really??) than about whether you had anything to drink before driving.

What's funny is they were so gobsmacked by the air dam and the Kammback that neither of them noticed (or commented) on the lack of an outside mirror on the driver's door, or the AWOL passenger side windshield wiper.
