Last tank in the Paseo was a real record breaker for me. 66.5 mpg over 564 miles. Previous best was 59.1. Gonna be hard to beat that, but I'm looking forward to hitting 70+ now.

That sounds ForkenSwiftian. Tell me more.

Milestone: best efficiency so far in 2009 in the ForkenSwift: 224 Wh/mile / 138.9 Wh/km at the plug. 150 MPGe. That's my 3rd best drive/charge cycle ever.

That was by limiting acceleration and cruising current to 50A if nobody was behind me. It took the patience of a saint to drive it like that. Also I tried upshifting sooner than normal.

To put that in perspective, 50A @ 48V is 2400 watts. 24 100 watt lightbulbs. Cars are energy hogs! :-O

EDIT: The excellent news is the efficiency will continue to improve as the ambient temps climb. It's been cool here, and the batts deliver better and better performance as they get up to about 80-90F. Haven't been close to that yet.

Thumbs up

I just hit 30+ MPG with my Mustang for my last two fill-ups. I've averaged over 28 MPG with it since my first fill-up, with a low of 24.98.

My best ever until the last 2 fill-ups was 29.956 MPG last August.
The only change was reprogramming my pcm with a Hypertech Max Energy power programmer with the 87 octane performance tune 196 miles before the first 30+ MPG fill-up. I don't know yet if the performance tune caused the higher MPG, or if my engine and tires are more broken-in at 14K miles. I'll do an A-B-A test after a few fill-ups.

I haven't made it through a tank yet without hitting 100% throttle at least once. And I've only made it through about three tanks without barking the tires shifting into second.

This was all commuting between home and work, with a weekly grocery run. Approximately 70% highway, 30% stop-and go.

My 235/55ZR17 Pirelli P Zero Nero's are inflated to 32 PSI.
There are no aero mods to the car.
My only hypermiling technique is avoiding the brakes and utilizing DFCO. (I do a lot of downshifting to decelerate.)
No EOC, no P&G, no DWL, no drafting, no engine-running coasting.
I set the cruise control at the speed limit on highways.

Congrats Andrew

For the longest tank I should beat you this summer but for mpg this is unachievable with my current ecodriving and ecomodding skills

I managed to break a new personal record. 6.4L / 100 km through the city before i merged onto the highway. I'm finding it easier and easier to get 5.0L commutes. I was sooo closer to a 4.9l/100km commute this morning. It was flashing back and forth between 4.9 and 5.0 on the scanguage during the last few km's. Won't be long now. 4.7l/100 km here i come (50 MPG)
