did you just connect the 2 power steering fluid lines and remove the pump? I gave a quick try to loosening the pump so as to remove the belt, but unfortunately my set of metric sockets is much smaller than my standard ones so I didn't have quite the right socket for the job... does anyone know offhand if the 2 bolts that hold the PS pump on are 12mm or 13mm? I'm unsure bc my 13mm socket is a bit worn and wouldn't grip properly and I don't have a 12mm.
what's the best way to get ABS cheaply in aeromodding quantities? I'ma need a good bit for wheel skirts at least, and an underpan would take a ton

I just removed the unit and drained the fluid. Truthfully, I guess much of the hardware is still there, deeper down. Ideally I should plug the lines, but I have had no problems. And I got most of the hardware, including the pulley and the bracket mounted to the engine block. Lotta room in there now. And the two bolts you refer to are I think 12mm, but I don't specifically recall. Anyone else know for sure?

Civics don't use 13mm for anything that I know of. The standard hex head size for M8 fasteners on Japanese cars is 12mm. So pick up some 12mm stuff for working on your Civic. (For M6 fasteners, it's 10mm, just like on older German cars.)
I don't remember what the larger sizes use off the top of my head, though. I do know that some newer cars are using 18mm for some fasteners. That made me grumpy when I found that on my wife's car's brakes... I didn't have any 18s and had to run out and get one.

I have an 18mm, interestingly the motor mounts on the truck are 18mm 0.o I also have a 10mm wrench because the brake bleeder screws on the truck are so rusted/worn/warped/whatever that 10mm fits better than 3/8" lol

Thanks. BTW, I needed a 14mm for some of the bolts inside the cabin and in the engine compartment. I have also needed the 10mm quite a bit.

today I'll try to get some hose and bypass the power steering pump... anyone done this before and happen to remember what size hose I"ll need?

Ah, here's a nice table for the hex head sizes. JIS stands for something like Japan Industrial Standards; DIN is Deutsches Institut fur Normung ("German Institute for Standards").
Bolt Depot - Metric Bolt Head, Wrench Size, and Diameter Table
So 7, 8, 10, 12, 14, 17, 19, 22 are the wrench sizes for older Japanese cars. Not sure about current ones, though. They may use the ISO ones.

well I took a good look at the steering rack and I'm completely confused. I see at least 3 lines going into the rack when I expected no more than 2. anyone help me out here?
