I finally paid the interest on the stupid government loan I couldn't use!
I kept trying to login. Click the box, do the captcha.
Copy and paste the 8-digit PIN.
It kept giving me errors.
Since my saved password didn't work I requested my username, which still didn't work. I tried variations of the username, but couldn't get in, so I clicked the box, did the captcha, and copied and pasted the PIN, and reset the 16-character password.
It still gave me an error.
I e-mailed technical support, but never heard back, so I periodically tried variations of the username, clicked the box, did the captcha, and copied and pasted the PIN, and reset the 16-character password.
I finally got in and paid immediately.
After all of that inconvenience I was able to pay with my debit card through PayPal.
The US has a Vancouver?!

What, government isn't the most smoothly running machine there is? Shocking.
I know, and not only that, but it's just hours from The Vancouver. I'm surprised they don't require passports.

Nobody vacations in Vancouver when Portland is just across the river, and people know what Portland is but never knew the US has a Vancouver.

It's more convenient to Portland International Raceway and the [IIRC] horse arena than downtown Potland.

I'd visit a bar in Portland and people would ask where I traveled from, and I'd tell them Vancouver. They imagined me a great traveler to have gone so far, into another country.
Friends would refuse to journey so far, into another state, 10 minutes away. I was "closer" to everything in Portland than most everyone living in Portland, unless it was rush hour (which lasts 5 hours).
We lived 20 minutes from my wife's school at OHSU, so it was a 90 minute drive. That was unacceptable so we rented an apartment on "the hill".
Anyhow, Vancouver has all the positives of Portland and none of the negatives. Miss living there where so many wondrous hikes and scenes that are a mere 25 minute drive away.

The horse track (Portland Meadows) shut down in 2019. The site was going to be redeveloped into warehouses / distribution centers.

One of these houses is for sale again.
One house with a converted garage sold for the asking price of $325,000.
I think the new weirdos moved in today.
One up the street is for sale again. It sold a couple of years ago for $201,000, but not even the site of the company selling it shows it for sale: https://www.remax.com/az/show-low/ho...40221579788702

Heard today that AZ was hit the hardest by inflation. I'd have figured inflation to be mostly uniform considering everything but housing is movable.

Housing is a huge part of inflation - 33% as a national average. Below are the housing price increases by state in 2021. You can see the Mountain West has huge increases and people that could suddenly work from home moved out of expensive cities with gridlock traffic to more affordable areas. And even with 30% price increases Arizona is much cheaper than California. (Even Portland is cheap to people coming from San Diego, LA, and San Francisco.)

My buddy jumped from PDX to Idaho in 2021. He's part of their 25.5% increase. That's just insane, and I thought housing prices were crazy when I bought in 2019. I should have sold my rental in 2021. Zillow said it was worth the price I paid in 2019 for the current house that is twice as big... but cash isn't worth anything and stocks are floundering, so having 2 fixed-rate mortgages is a nice hedge on inflation.

D.C only increased 6.6%?! I think that is the first good news they have had in a long time!
