Aside from never calling the Alaskan my girlfriend, that is accurate.
The Camry runs and drives well, I just want an accident-free car.
When I have the time to drive down to Phoenix I never see anything worth buying, but everything worth buying goes within hours, also known as faster than I could get there.
It makes the most sense to fix up a car, drive it down, sell it, and then buy a new one, or at least do both during the same trip, but when a nice car pops up I want to pursue it.
I need to ask Crazy J how much to swap an engine and transmission.
Ideally they are already bolted together.
I would write more, but I need to leave to see a client!

Hehe, was going to say that Xist is purposely referring to her as The Alaskan specifically to obfuscate the nature of that relationship.
I've stated elsewhere I don't keep female friends, not that I'm unfriendly towards them, only that nothing good can come of it. Girl friendships are usually lopsided, because how often are women fixing my car, or the fence that was blown over, or fixing the roof? Sure, it could happen, but that's not likely. Then there's the fact that we mostly have differing interests, with girls preferring to talk about other people, and me preferring to talk about philosophy, technology, economics...
If it were a friendship, Xist would have put 12k miles on her car in a couple months...
... now I'm missing the part of the story explaining why a better strategy is to hunt down another car (and its unknown issues) than to repair the known issues on the current Camry?

It's only better because it occurs faster to buy different rather than diy repair .

Thx, it's hard to keep up with all that and the greenhouse. If I put all the parts together, I'd have three.

In theory. Car shopping can take an eternity, especially when it's the best sellers market we've ever seen.
How much time spent looking, researching, traveling to inspect, vs how much could be accomplished repairing something with that time?

Daughter bought her kia thingee one afternoon after deciding it was time that morning.
Needs at least a hundred lines of posting to buy, perhaps a thousand or so to fix and perhaps some side issues.

But was it a 15 - 20 year old used car? Xist seems to want to buy an inexpensive yet trouble-free old car. That unicorn might exist but I haven't seen one.

Good cars go quickly, at least at a good price.
When I don't have more important projects(!) I am going to center the hood and use my big cargo strap and Mom's tree to pull the radiator supports to reduce the panel gaps.
However, I have done all that I could to straighten the horizontal part of the core support. I asked Crazy J to straighten it more and he said that he straightened metal further inside, but he couldn't bring it back to normal.
All that I know is that the horizontal part of the core support is still twisted and I don't have any idea how to straighten it further--except bondo.
I also didn't have that panel gap before.
Then there is the fact that the hood and bumper are a different color than the rest of the car.
The Internet says it would take 8 cans to paint both. I just hope that I would make it look better!
Of course, the paint is already bad on the trunk and roof...

That's exactly how I straightened my motorcycle frame before I sold it! 😁😁 Thank goodness there are trees around to help

That is one benefit to living in the mountains. There aren't as many trees in the Phoenix area!
The Camry is now leaking in Mom's driveway, so I need to see what is going on there.
I still haven't tracked down the Accord leak, but engine and transmission?
