That's pretty good.
I usually get around 55-60 on the same bike, and my best ever was only about 72mpg.
This was before learning about ecomodding and hypermiling, but even so, 1 short of 90mpg is impressive.
Especially on a machine capable of going 0-60 in 5 seconds

Here's some thoughts:
Would 15w-40 synthetic oil be satisfactory for the engine?
Would 30w bar and chain oil work on the chain?
Rain will make the radiator reject more heat so adjusting air flow will help keep the engine at optimum temperature.
Extending the windscreen and side fairings with clear plastic pieces will help air flow and keep the rain off.
I am looking for tool boxes (Stanley 28001L) or Rubbermaid marine coolers to mount upright behind the rider and attach a tail fin to the lid.
Keep up the good work!

Hey there! Love seeing all these Ninja 250R threads. I bought mine last year, and have been "lurking" here for a while and finally decided to register.
Extending the windscreen is a good idea. A v-shape between the original mount points and the windscreen will raise and push back the windscreen as much as you want. I made a 3" extension out of sheet aluminum, and it turned out great (and produced a measurable increase in fuel economy). 15-40 synthetic would work, so long as it's 4-stroke motorcycle oil. 30w bar and chain oil on the chain? Might come off too fast unless you're using an automatic oiler. Swapping the o-ring chain for an x-ring chain is supposed to reduce drag (haven't tried it myself, though).

Big gains by smoothing the air flow behind the rider. Ceramic wheel bearings would help also.

I've been riding w/o fairings and shifting around 5-6k tach, riding at ~60 mph, no trouble getting pretty consistent 88 mpg. When I did ride slower with fairings, shifting around 3k, I was barely doing any better. I am going to put the fairings back on but not worry about my economy. I'm predicting an average of around 85mpg. I will be updating the fuel log on this site.

I've loved, from afar, the Ninja 250 for quite some time. Still haven't been able to save up enough to get one. It would be awesome to see some bolt-on aftermarket aero-specific fairings or add-ons. I think if you could optimize the air-flow this bike could easily do 100+ mpg daily. Let us know how you do!

When I look in the "garage" I find 3 gs500f's, yours is not amung them. the fuel consumption they get is around 65mpg average. a fuel log for your gs500f would be nice...

I bought a Ninja 250 and wondered if anyone has a aerodynamic shell for it?
