corolla

I would be curious very to know what a rear spoiler would do,which was configured to extend up and back from the rear of the trunklid, at a shallow angle(no more than 30-dgrees),such that it just touched the teardrop line that you've projected over the car.Something like acashic may be doing to the Tacoma.

I'm also thinking about some vortex generators, but I don't have any way of monitoring instant fuel consumption, so I would have to wait tank to see a difference; but something that small could just as easily be changed by driving differently/traffic.

And my cooling fan still kicks on, even with my upper grill block completely gone.
I'm wondering if I should do an aerocivic type upper grill block, where I would make the bumper smoothly connect to the hood, with clear openings for the lights, and then keep the bottom grill open for cooling

Next up:
Remove driver's side mirror
Add interior side mirrors
Add larger rear view mirror(2x size)

But my back windshield has a steeper angle than a 2006 Corolla, so vortex generators should have a positive effect.

EDIT: I think I'll forget the VG. Not enough positive evidence for small cars for me to try them.

My next mod will probably be front wheel skirts, but not until i get back from xmas break on Jan.2, and even then, I doubt they will be finished until around the Superbowl. I'm lucky enough to go to the Sundance Film Festival, so that cuts me short about a week too.

Ok..I'm having second thoughts about my rear wheel skirts.
Not second thoughts about having them on my car, just second thoughts on the look.
I think I'm going to spray paint both of them white, so they blend in with my stock paint color, and then just buy cleanmpg and ecomodder stickers to put on my back windshield or something.

Edit: Sprayed the cleanmpg side white so it blends in with the rest of the car.

So.....mega bump time.
During my Epic Road Trip this summer, my uncle helped me do general maintenance on my car. However, part of the deal was that he would only buy all the stuff and help me if I took off my rear wheel skirts >.>

It's been a few months now, and I cannot conclusively say the rear wheel skirts improved my mpg. I think they helped but my evidence is in no way scientific enough to really say. A few days after taking them off, I had a record tank of 49 mpg - I also had new spark plugs, a flushed radiator with new coolant/water mix, cooler temperatures(so I rarely had to use AC), and a cleaner car(interior and exterior).

I'm considering getting more "professional" rear wheel skirts, aka not coroplast and gorilla tape. I'm sitting at 45-48ish on my current tank...about half (slow)highway driving and about half urban driving(lots of P&G but rarely reaching normal operating temp).

On a separate note, my car looks rather normal except for the absence of side mirrors and my partial grill block, and it looks as awesome as my car can look.

MPG update eventually.

Edit: I also don't know if my 49mpg fill up has ethanol in it.
