I’ve already started work on the front end, sealing the hood, deleting the passenger wiper, and building an air deflector for the left wiper. It’ll probably need redone though, as I thought I seen air getting under the very end of the wiper blade. In decent-ish weather today (still cold) I had instant mileage hovering near 70mpg at 60mph, around 10-11”hg on the gauge, which I conveniently mounted on my a-pillar

That would be a lot of work for no functional gain. I can’t imagine they’d be brighter or lighter or more aerodynamic than what’s currently there

Did a small mod to the AeroCivic the other day, it cost me nothing
There was a snorkel for the airbox which was pointed at the headlight to draw cool air, but it had no fasteners of any kind holding it in its position. I lifted it and flipped it around to point toward the engine and exhaust manifold, in theory bumping IAT temps a little

Here’s the Aerocivic data from the Speed vs. MPG charts thread. These are the results that you need to match or exceed as you restore and further mod the Aerocivic.
QUOTE=basjoos;427984]I finally got out and did a series of steady state speed vs. mpg runs in the Aerocivic. Finding a sufficiently level road was a search (this region is called the Piedmont for good reason), but I found a 6 mile stretch of highway that paralleled a railroad right of way that was very level and had only a 53 foot height variation along the 6 mile stretch. Elevation of test road was 700 feet above sea level
Air temperature at time of test 91 degrees F.
2 runs in each direction at each speed. Remained in lean burn at all speeds tested.
50 mph 95mpg
55mph 87mpg
65mph 77mpg
70mph 71mpg

So the AeroCivic has acquired a misfire. Not sure exactly the root cause, it’s an intermittent condition with a seemingly random onset. Sometimes it’ll run normally for a while, stop at a light or something and it’ll start missing

It has a new distributor cap and rotor, plus new plug wires and plugs, and the valves have been recently adjusted. I didn't use OEM Honda parts (correct plugs though) but my money is on it being one of them. It's also possible it's the ignition coil, which is a $20 part. I believe the car has a spare distributor, if it comes to that. I'm inclined to think it's spark rather than a fuel injection issue.

So I’ve worked some on the Civic and it’s misfire. Took off the distributor cap and there were metallic filings and bits floating around, cleaning them out took care of the misfire, but it’s now throwing a code 9 (CEL comes on within the first few minutes of any trip), which is indicated as cylinder position sensor. I’m not yet familiar enough with OBD1 Hondas to know exactly where that is, but I’m surmising that it works the same as a cam position sensor, because mileage goes in the toilet when the light is on

I agree, those distributors tend to self destruct.
