I sent an e-mail to Bob Gillespie this morning asking for clarification on the rules. He sent the scoresheet to his mailing list.
It looks like you will need 100lbs of ballast OR a passenger (in the interest of fun, I'm bringing the latter).

Yes, Bob sent me that info this morning as well. As an occasional event organizer myself, I have to commend Bob for his great communication, very timely replies, and tireless work organizing this event. It is much appreciated.
So how many of us will there be in the Ecomodder class?
1. Mike Kamm [blownb310] -yes
2. Darin -yes
3. Will -yes
How about the rest of from this thread that said you are going?
4. Robert
5. Martin
6. Gas Fumes
7. moTthediesel
8. McTimson
9. brucepick
10. Neil B.
11. Ben?
Why do I ask? I'll be running solo and would like to know if the rest of us Ecomodder class drivers will also running solo as well? If so, [and if we all agree], I'd like to propose that [because we are all in our own class] that none of us run the ballast then. I just carried a wheel barrow full of bar bell weights home from a neighbor's house, and boy does it seem counterproductive to drag all of that weight along all the way to, during, and back home from the event. Does anyone agree? If all of us confirmed in the Ecomodder class do, I will run it past Bob.
Mike

Well, I've already got a co-driver, and I believe he'll enjoy the event, and learn how to hypermile. Plus, sitting in a car by yourself for eight hours is half as much fun as the alternative.
There's also the fact that we WILL be competing against non-ecomodders. Probably me more so than others. Look at this image Bob mailed us:
Three Honda Insights! Plus mine which will park with the EcoModders, makes four Honda Insights! I wonder who owns the other ones.

I probably will not make it to the competition, but I may come for the rest of it. Getting there by 9:20am is too early; and leaving the night before is also tough for me.
There is a possibility that Chang will come -- I told him about it, but my memory failed me on the date. Hopefully he got to check it here.

I don't understand Robert. I thought each car was competing against other cars in their class. Isn't that how it works?
P.S Thanks for posting that picture.

That parking lot looks like most of the spots are reserved already. Do you know where the non-competitors should park?

Officially, yes. But that won't stop people from comparing results across classes.
How would you feel if you showed up in a bone-stock CRX and had to carry ballast, then you got walloped by an IRX, a CRXFi, and Mr. Kim's boat-tailed CRX, none of which had ballast OR an interior!?
Ah, it's good when like minds get together.

Just got a look at the sheet from Bob G.
The GGP uses the "first click rule" for fuel. That resolves my notes re filling up to the top of the neck, one or 2 pages back in this thread.

I'll be in the ecomodder class too. Not with much mods though.
The first click fill won't work properly in diesels because of foaming.

I'll have a 3 ton floor jack and jack stands pair with me if anyone need them before the GGP. They weigh exactly 100 lbs together, I just found most of my ballast!
