I cleared my schedule enough to make it out there as you guys reach the finish line. Hopefully next year I'll be able to compete.

I just talked to Ben (remember Ben? Yeah, he used to visit EcoModder) and he's interested too if you have space. I think we had 4 in last year.

Excellent. With Will, we now have four and the price for each of us just dropped a bunch.

Is anyone else bringing a co-driver, or will you all be running with the required 120lbs of ballast in your passenger side footwell?
I also see there will be a penalty for exceeding the sidewall max tire pressure. I guess I'll have to let a few psi out of my tires before I leave.
I hope Ben can bring the IRX... I'd love to see it, in all its half-finished glory. He should post an update in his build thread.
I've framed up a boattail for the Insight in wood and styrofoam, and I'm at the sanding stage right now. Will it be done for this weekend? Mmm... probably not. I may decide to take more time with it and see if it can be made aesthetic enough for daily driver use.
Though I will be putting 500mi on the car this weekend, and 1000mi the next, so I would be wise to get my aeromods done now... we'll see.
I did finish a DC/DC converter toggle switch today, though. I will deep-cycle both of my batteries on Saturday.

Did you get it all back together? I hope so.

Where did you see the rules page Robert? I scanned their site and couldn't find it.

Here's a quote from an email I received from Bob Gillespie, in response to my question about the tire pressure penalty:
"Hi Bruce.
... We will deduct one point from your score if the pressure is higher than the max pressure stated on the tire.
You will not be disqualified. I suspect that all eco-modders will probably receive the same one-point penalty.
It does not translate to a deduction in your mpg score...

Of course that begs the question, "What is the mpg score and how is it calculated?"
As well as other detail questions such as "Are there specific fillup procedures before or after the competition?"
Not knowing how the car will be topped up for scoring after driving the loop, I'm inclined (for both fills) to fill till it pools at the top of the filler neck. Normally I stop at the first clickoff but for this relatively small amount of fuel I think it may be more precise to bring it absolutely to the top both times.

Agreed 100%. But I'll go along with whatever procedure they may be using. It's a fun day out with like minded people.
