As you probably know, the EVSE is physically disconnected from the car when the charge completes. The EVSE also has a varistor which helps protect against surges including lightning strikes. Who knows how effective it is though.

I know the leaf brick has varistors, I installed 2 big 130v MOVs on each line to ground when I did the 120v to 240v mod.
My 16 amp 240v after market EVSE probably has a single small 300v+ MOV wired L to L.
I don't see them as being effective strike protection.
If the car is hit with the bolt, that energy will try to ground through the EVSE if plugged in, which will fry it.
If the lines are hit while the car is plugged in but not charging I expect it to maybe damage the EVSE control circuits.
Late at night, most nights my car is still actively charging.

I'm interested in the mud flap mod if you see good results. Can you (please!) do an ABA test?

Found where the power coop cut some trees on public land that were too big for for the wood chipper.
I got about 4 more loads of wood like this.
The other loads of wood weren't as twiggy.

I was looking at the 2018 leaf, it looks like it's pretty low to the ground.

I think the new Leaf has virtually the same ground clearance as the original Leaf.

I installed my friction reducing brake pad assault springs on the front brakes.
The addition of the springs appears to just about double the number of spins the wheel will do when I jack up the car and hand spin the wheel.
Before the install the brakes just barely touched the rotor, just like any other vehicle with good working brakes.
Now they don't appear to be touching or at least not very much.
I am going to do the back ones next chance I get.

So, is the thread title supposed to mean there are 2001 modifications that were done to this particular Leaf?

When I started the post it said 2011.
Then the title got edited, (not by me) now it says 2001.
It's been way more than 48 hours since the op was posted so I can't edit the title.
