Yes true. Now that i look back, my post was a a little mis-leading.

I've already had the Sti for a little year now, therefore, the figures i posted are "future ongoing costs" of the Sti.

She has not said anything about it yet.

But maybe perhaps it's because i drove like a "normal" person this weekend (i.e 70mph on the free way, no eoc-ing)

Girlfriend Stamp of Approval!

I finished the "almost oem lower grill block" over the weekend! Pics to follow.

Randomly while shopping today with my girlfriend, a kid comes up to me drooling over the Sti. He asks about the upper and lower grill block. I explain about ecomodding, he says

"psh...whatever man..." and walks away

yeah, whatever kid.

Then i look to my girlfriend who rolls her eyes and says..."ugh, fine, at least it doesnt look like you taped crappy cardboard to your front bumper.."

UPPER AND LOWER GRILL BLOCK IS GIRLFRIEND APPROVED!

This thing keeps getting better and better. Looking forward to the pics!

Maybe don't mention ecomodding to the uninitiated and just stick to talking about better engine temps and aerodynamics which lead to less work for the engine and thus more results from your power! More bang for your boooooooost! You don't even need to mention the word efficiency!

Almost OEM Lower grill block finished! Pics

Almost OEM Lower grill block

Sorry for the lack of pictures, I was trying to knock this project out in 8 hours, so I forgot to take pics along the way.

But it's essentially the same thing as my other fiberglass builds.
1) get the rough shape
2) use painters tape to smooth the edges
3) fiberglass
4) sand
5) bondo
6) paint
Mounted using existing holes in the bumper and L brackets with speed nuts

What was wrong with the last one? For how long will you keep this one?

Excellent quality, as always!

Thanks!

The only thing wrong with the last one was my girlfriend didn't like it. You know the old saying "happy wife, happy life."

My girlfriend doesn't hate this version, so I think it'll stay for a while, lol

Heh.

I am just familiar with "If Mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy!"

I have been trying to figure out how to strengthen my new grill block, which is not nearly as subtle as yours! http://ecomodder.com/forum/showthrea...dam-30382.html

Currently, I have a pool noodle shoved between the air dam and the bumper. I went to a dollar store and Walmart yesterday looking for another and was going to go to a different dollar store and a super Walmart, but someone reminded me to vote.

I have been thinking that the best way to do it is to remove the air dam, remove my bumper cover, grease it up, put the air dam back on, flip everything, and pour expanding foam into it--the two part mix, not the cans, because everybody says bad things about Great Stuff.

What do you think?

I could always cut thin pieces of foam to roughly fit under the air dam and glue them together.
