Be more efficient then be infinite efficient. The battery probably isn't quite as effective but it also let's you maintain a steady speed and not annoying everyone around you. Of course you can pulse and glide a hybrid and get over 100 mpg as many Prius owners have shown.

On a side note, the Hyundai hybrids, at least my Sonata, doesn't use a ecvt. Mine has a traditional 6 speed automatic. On one hand I appreciate that. Some companies make a crap cvt. On the other hand the ecvt in Chrysler, Ford, and Toyota is really strong and would probably improve economy more.
The 6 speed DCT feels more sporty than cvt and apparently it helps with the better mpg at much higher interstate speeds

Usually a more "normal" transmission provides better highway MPG than the single-speed planetary gearset of a Prius. Well, sometimes I wonder why Toyota doesn't make a 2-speed gearset, just like the Chinese GWM is already doing.

im just waiting for some people to post real world steady state highway mpg versus the epa rating crap....

so far in the past, the ioniq hybrid blue has been the king of high speed highway mpg. the new prius is rated at 56 but real world could be higher

Car & Driver does a steady state 75 mph highway test on the cars they test. They don't have data on the 2023 Prius yet. The 2022 Prius FWD averaged 46 mpg and the Prius AWD averaged 47 mpg

That's it! Time for me to give up my prejudice and buy an AWD!

Underbody. They could’ve done so much better. Anyone wanna explain why the under tray has so many cooling openings? Literally no rear diffuser either

The Prius is now marketed as a sports car of sorts? The kind of vehicle you can take to a track and run laps all day?

Not sure, but it might have to do with avoiding to overheat the battery.

I actually saw a 2023 Prius up close in person this week as there is one at my apartment complex. I actually don't like it as much in person. One car that looks better in pictures IMO. It's an improvement but it's not exactly a sexy car still. It was a really dark blue. Maybe other colors would be more flattering. You couldn't really see many styling details.
