I'm still getting materials in to do a mirror delete like you did. Got some of this Dap Seal 'N Peel caulk today... seems like great stuff for prototyping and temporary mods, like a grill block that might change with the season. It's nice, I'm not nervous about putting some on my new car.

Excellent!!

I'm thinking of adding the site URL in large-ish lettering on my Civic's tail when I get it done in the next week or 2.

Something like:
Q: WTF?
A: EcoModder.com/CivicTail
I'm thinking of offering to set up dedicated EM URLs for members who would like one (which would automatically redirect to your build thread, for example).

Naw, leave people guessing to search the internet like we have in the past for strange looking vehicles over the years.

I finally got around to doing something about this:

...that big hole down the center of the car. $15 of coroplast, duct tape, zip ties, and some screen door mesh later, I have almost a completely smooth underside.

It's hard to see, but I cut a ~6" wide channel under the catalytic converter and resonator and used the aluminum mesh there so it doesn't melt the coroplast. I have one more sheet left to see what I can do on the back end around the torsion bar and muffler.

With several road trips coming up next year through mirror-removal-unfriendly states, I decided to do something permanent with the mirror situation. So, the driver-side mirror is back on for good, and the passenger side looks like this:

Fun with bondo! We'll see how it holds up.

I've also started removing weight. First up was the spare tire and jack (I can always throw them back in for long trips), along with:

• Spare tire: 25.8 lbs
• Jack and tools: 8.2 lbs
• Rear wiper and motor: 2.4 lbs
• Passenger exterior mirror: 2.1 lbs
• Manuals and rear hatch lower panel: 5.4 lbs
• Passenger side wiper: 2.8 lbs
• Plastic engine cover and passenger kick panel: 2.0 lbs
• Trunk mat: 5.4 lbs
• Hood insulation: 1.2 lbs

...for a total of 55 lbs out of the car so far. In a year or two I'll replace the auxiliary battery with an Optima, which saves twenty pounds, and I'm thinking of removing the carpet entirely, painting on bedliner, and leaving the floor mats on top of that.

The headlight saga will continue this week; I'll update the other thread with progress on that.
