cracked 80
First time past 80 MPG / 2.9 L/100 km in this car for a round trip...
Absolutely perfect conditions. Hot, calm winds, and no traffic, so I could coast forever. I also had the alternator unplugged for about 10 km of those 80 km.
Average speed is low because there are multiple turns & stops on the route. Average cruising speed was 70-80 km/h = 44-50 mph. Probably closer to 44.

kilotank
I filled up a week or so back and passed a new milestone:
First tank over 1000 km!
Ended up filling at 1048 km = 651 miles, at 3.1 L/100 km = 77 MPG (US)
The car's digital fuel gauge display was freaking out. It will start blinking the last (out of 10) bars when you're getting close to "empty"... then the last bar disappears and the entire gauge starts blinking. It's an existential moment.
I carried a small jerry can with me on my last trip to be safe, and then discovered when I filled up that I could have gone about another 100 km!

It’s amazing what can be done with these cars with a little patience
Unfortunate the 1l car didn’t come over and that the car is discontinued.
I’m back to driving the Cobalt making due with 42mpg given my “changes” in driving locations prevent my 50mpg driving techniques

^ I hate it when that happens - circumstances taking you off your most efficient route that you know like the back of your hand. 42 in the Cobalt is still nothing to sneeze at.
I have to remind people when I post silly MPG numbers that my usual driving environment is about as good as it gets for ecodriving. Also, lots of little ecomods on the car.

Yeah. The 1.0L would have been good for about 7% better MPG right out of the box. I would have bought one in a heartbeat.
Some Euro countries had the choice of either the 1.0 or 1.2, but it might just be the 1.2 now. Japan only had the 1.0 (and only with the CVT), but the car was cancelled there last year.
I figure 2024 will be the last model year for the Mirage in Canada & the U.S. Europe will probably replace it with the new Colt (rebadged Renault Clio).

Maybe something similar to the Mirage would still have to be made for Thailand, Indonesia and other Southeast Asian countries. Now that Mitsubishi is closer to Nissan, I wouldn't be surprised if a direct replacement for the Mirage could be based on the Nissan Magnite, yet I wouldn't really hold my breath for it to be available stateside.

Interstate Mirage sightings
I just got home from a 2,900-mile trip. I saw a number of Mirages tearing down I-40 at 75-mph or better. Great cars!

Well, Nissan has a long history of producing "old" models alongside their replacements in some markets. Sometimes for many years. Maybe with their involvment with Mitsu they'll keep the current 6th gen Mirage going somewhere.

I remember the Mexican Nissan Tsuru. Odd enough, the latest ones were fitted with a Renault engine for emissions compliance. I used to see a few once in a while in my hometown, but those had Uruguayan plates.

Well, considering the next Euro-spec Mitsubishis will be rebadged Renaults, it wouldn't surprise me if some small Renault made in India would have its underpinnings shared with an eventual (yet unlikely) next-generation Mirage. If a next-generation Mirage becomes a mini SUV like the Renault Kiger or the Nissan Magnite, maybe even a comeback to the United States and Canada could happen, because of how taxation has been structured in favor of SUVs.

10 yrs, 10k km
Happy birthday to the wee turdbucket!
2014 model year, but manufactured in 2013...
And since I got it in summer 2021, I've put about 10k kms on it (~6k mi.)
Just filled up: 60 MPG US = 3.9 L/100 km.
Pretty satisfied with this little machine.
