It's not a useless tread, I only have a few comments and I already learned that acetone will clean my engine and I'm sure someone would like to know what happens with it.

It may also wreck your fuel system by weakening the plastic and rubber components.
If you want clean injectors just go to the autoparts store and get a fuel detergent. They have been tested to be sure they don't damage your car and will do a better job of cleaning.

Yeah I'm kinda scared of what it will do to my lines but honestly I have only seen results of people saying it had done nothing bad to their cars and I have not seen 1 result of someone saying it messed up their fuel lines, just theories that it will

I've done extensive testing on the fuel system components for my vehicle in relation to acetone. My findings are as follows: the components are cleaner, and my gas mileage is the same as if i were not using it. Acetone does not damage fuel system components of modern vehicles. It doesn't effect the efficiency enough to care about. Therefore, use it to clean out your fuel system, put a quart of anhydrous methanol in your gas tank (to remove any water in the tank), and when that tank is gone, fill up and don't worry about your fuel system because you'll have gotten rid of the car by the time there is a problem with it.

Final Results
Ok, so acetone in a 2000 Dodge Neon in my experiment did not turn out good.
I went from a pretty constant 31 down to 28.3 (look the attached picture of my fuel logs) You can try to say it was because of my driving making the difference but obviously I have pretty consistent numbers for the last 3 or 4 weeks. http://ecomodder.com/forum/attachmen...1&d=1242438347 (If this shows the link and not the picture will someone PLEASE tell me how to make it show the full picture and not just the link to the picture??

I have a Neon and I use it. My car is old and has around 200,000 miles on it. You need to run 3oz. per 10 gallon pure gas. Not more it has to be pure gas not ethinol/gas. You can run less acetone. Run at least 3 tanks for results. I am up to 37 MPG stop and go and 50 MPG long trip and that's with an automatic. Of course I drive 50 MPH and use other gas saving techniques. There are patents on fuel additives guess what the ingredient is? acetone. It will clean the carbon in older engines putting you up towards new car specs. You will have to replace your fuel filter when it gets clogged which it will because it cleans your fuel system including your tank. There are benefits in older vehicles even more than the new ones. I know someone who bought one of those new big Toyota jeep like suv's with a roof rack. They are using another solvent like acetone and told me they got 4 MPG increase. Beware there are corporate bloggers that want to mislead gas and motor savings it's not in Exxon's interest. I wonder if they get paid by the post or the week.

I want to try it but I don't know, I really can't mess up my car right now cuz I don't have a job to pay for the repairs...
