I wouldn't bother...or listen to him. Sure, it may clean your injectors but it's not going to do anything more...except raise your octane a little.

Well SVOboy, you seem to be one of the smartest here on ecomodder, do you think I can get up to 35 MPG right now without any major mods. I'm not sure where I should go from where I am right now, I'm not ready for wheel skirts or alternator remove or any mod like that?

I'm not sure exactly what you're driving situation it like, but I am fairly sure you can do it by ecodriving alone if you fine tune your technique and have good feedback. I would try that, first.

I have used acetone since August 2008, only thing I had to do is change the fuel filter that became clogged, that is good thing and shows it works. I am working to expand the volume of gasoline on a molecular level, to increase the mileage by increasing the space between the molecules. I have multiple experiments going and there is a cumulative effect.

The whole acetone in the fuel story was a scam to sell people scanguage's.

Acetone in gasoline does the following
increases surface tension of the fuel
lowers octane value
weakens plastic parts
reduces btu content of the fuel
weakens rubber parts

As far as the conspiracy of big oil companies suppressing adding acetone in fuel one only needs to look at who supplies acetone to people, big oil companies.

The only positive thing acetone does is act like a detergent. There are better and less toxic detergents available at your local auto parts store.

I had used acetone for several years, needless to say 5 years after the fact nothing special went out then or now.

Generally if your car can take alcohol in the fuel it will take acetone all the same. My FE WAS effected most of the time but mainly at low throttle situations (in town). I usually saw a net increase of 0-3mpg, especially evident in winter months. (and yes I DID notice a 3mpg increase in my fe logs since my mpgs rarely change on a given route) Main issue is that increase did not overcome the price for the acetone by much and you had to really play around with the amount of acetone in your eye dropper since too much makes it worse, too little isn't noticeable. Also I was running a mix of acetone and mystery oil which I recommend on older motors in small doses.

I may have to retest now that I have a scanguage, my driving technique really hasn't changed much except when I can drive slow up hills and fast down (but I did that before I heard of hypermiling just apparently not as effectively).

I find the folks that say e85 drops MPGs in half are the same folks who say acetone will blow up your car.

Strangely enough running e85 I could still maintain 28-32mpg on the highway with my 98 Buick lesabre before my scanguage. Which was identical to my previous fuel logs from those years. Back then E85 was half the price of e10, it was definately worth the chance burning then, but now

Worst case if you have a 30yr old antique is that rubber components that are already aged will break apart causing a repair of some lines a filter or maybe even your fuel pump.

But its not bloody likely.

I say experiment they thought Einstein was nuts for a long time while he tried to figure things out. Chemistry is just another system the more we explore the more opportunity we will have for a break through. I have had no problems only improved my vehicle and it is 14+ years old. A mechanic friend bought a car it tapped like crazy he squirted Mystery Oil in cylinders he poured some in the carb and it smoked like crazy, then he stomped on it and blew it out at high speed. It had carbon on the top of the cylinders after he blew it out it ran fine. Even a mechanic would rather fix something the easy way if it will work. Acetone is O.K. with me if it only brings my car up closer to new car specs, but it does more than that and that's a plus. Yes, it has a lot of octane I think it's around 167 octane I really don't care about that. I am trying to increase the volume in the gas by expanding the space between the molecules that is one reason I use it and another reason I heat fuel.

Synthetic oil does not leak out. That is a myth from the 1970s.

If his car leaks oil out, it leaks oil out synthetic or not. But a puddle of synthetic oil on the ground costs a lot more.

I had an old Dodge caravan in a previous life that had a crapped out seal on the oil pan that cost $2200 to fix so I just put in 50 weight $0.98 oil and slowed the leak and little, just took it easier in the winter.
