Here it is:

The motorcycle mirror is actually very good at seeing traffic coming up on you on the left on the freeway.

My commute is 54 miles one way with 30 miles of country roads with small towns and speed limits from 30 to 65 mph. The other 24 miles is interstate, half at 65 and half at 70mph. I have 22 stop signs/stop lights on the route. I usually average 45mph according to the “guido”. I go about 5 to 10 mph lower than the speed limit but only when it will not impede other traffic. The route is mostly gently rolling hills with a total drop in elevation from my house to the shop of 134 ft. total ascent - 640 ft. total descent - 774 ft.
I use EOC, DWL and DWB as my main hypermiling techniques.

My gas is 10% ethanol

The WAI intake that is on the engine on the pallet is version 3.0 and is by far the best. It will get up to 130 degrees quickly even when the temp is below freezing. It is installed on My brother’s white VX.

The last question about the front Airdam:
It is made from High density polyethylene and is used on the front of dirt track racers. It is almost indestructible. You can get it at Speedway motors for $20 for a 1/8 inch thick by 22 inches wide by 10 feet long ROLL. Search for "colored plastic rolls". I suggest you use sheet metal type "tin" snipes to cut it.

My Airdam is 14 inches wide and is attached to the rubber bumper with #12 sheet metal screws + the two license plate bolts. I drove the car for a year without any other reinforcement of the spoiler and never had any problems with it. After we put in the belly pan it now has 6- 2 inch 90 degree angle brackets that attach it to the belly pan with nuts and bolts. The Airdam has 6 inches of clearance to the ground. I would not go any lower as it now just clears the parking space stops.

The side skirts are made of regular thickness corplast and are 6 inches wide with 5 inches of clearance with the ground. I have had no problems with the height so far.

How easily can you cut a straight line in the air dam material? I need to figure that out for my lawn edging when I redo mine, but that stuff very well may look better!

Do you have an estimate on how much mpg gain the kammback gives you?

excellent work, especially on the kammback/sideskirts/box cavity.

my only question regarding an improvement to the car is at the back of the front wheel arches. would it not be better to a bit of an opening or a radiused edge to allow the high pressure air in the wheel well to bleed out and smoothly blend with the air down the side.

I did a crude version of Scagglione's (Ferrari Spa) wheelhouse departure radii on the truck.It forces the extracted air to exit more parallel to the body sides.No A-B-A testing.Figured it couldn't hurt.I'm seeing close to 40-mpg on a good day @ 60 mph without the headlight covers,bellypan,and boat tail.

I never ran the car with just the Kammback.*Here are some of the numbers on our aero additions. I did the front air dam first about 18 months ago*and it was worth about 3 mpg. In September of 2013 we put the red vx in the shop and added the belly pan, rear diffuser,*side skirts, rear wheel covers, and the complete Kammback and "boxed" rear end. Needless to say this was a lot of work, but once I committed to go "Basjoos" I just added all I could think of that might improve MPG.*The car was put back on the road April 5th of this year and as of today I have driven 2,212 miles and used 30.969 gallons of gas for a total MPG of 71.426. *Based on*MPG this time last year on this same car I have picked up 5-6 MPG.

I plan on starting a gas log here on Ecomodder and hope to improve these numbers as the weather heats up this summer.

Thenorm, Thanks for the information and the picture. I admit, I'm not sure of the best way to add aero to this area and also manage turbulence. My attempt was copied from what I have seen here on Ecomodders.

*Because I have a full length belly pan, I am very focused on venting engine heat from the wheel wells. I added gauges to monitor oil temp, water temp, and intake air temp and so far have been able to keep engine heat manageable with the two front adjustable grill vents,but as the weather gets hotter this*area may need *modification. I welcome any ideas or data from fellow Ecomodders.
