Right side is almost done. I still have the eye bolt locking mechanism to install.

Both gap covers are installed. Not quite the fit I had in mind but there's enough fer me to work with.

The red tape on the gap cover rail is a safety item when the gap cover is in the open position.

Eventually I'll git some lift off hinges so I can easily remove the gap covers and leave the support rail in place.

Had to go git gas so I pulled the gap covers off of the rails. Only 18 screws...


I had an older couple in a van chase me down fer a few blocks. After gitting their eye full and making their comments, they turned around and went on their way.

Finally putting some effort to rebuild the upper gap cover between the aero cap and trailer.

A quick view of what it might look like using some 1"x2" lumber.






The upper width is 35.75" while the rear upper width is expected to be 30.75" and about 45" long. I have enough acrylic to cover the frame once I have the frame cut and beveled. I'm thinking about attaching the acrylic panels on with silicone adhesive and maybe about 4 screws per panel just to make sure the panels don't take off on on their own.

Pinewood derby truck fer my son...








Yes, I know it won't really help with aerodynamics as the speeds the derby runs aren't fast enough fer it to play a major factor. He did want his entry to look just like my truck and aero cap.

I'm just using a piece of Tyvek and rubber cement to git the basic shape. It started out as a scrap piece of wood...then transitioned to some scrap Foamular...and now scrap Tyvek.

This is so funny! Last night, my gf and I were killing time at Michaels and they have a whole section for pinewood derby. Of course we reminisced of those days (not sure why she had one, since she obviously wasn't a boy scout!). My first thought was of course what I could have done with my aerodynamic knowledge!

The kid who won one pinewood derby simply made the smallest car that he could and filled it with as many weights as he could. Of course, Cd is important, but he seemed to have some understanding of CdA.
