What's the motor, controller and battery efficiencies? What is the CdA and the speed driven? Unless we know the details just comparing size doesn't help.

The same goes with cars. You can take similar sized cars and one gets 20mpg, another 30mpg and another 40mpg. And no, just because a vehicle is electric doesn't mean it magically has the same efficiencies and aerodynamic drag as other EV's.

Some one who uses a leaf like it was intended, say Neal, gets between 5 and 6 miles per kwh. I get 4 to 4.5 miles per kwh in the summer and I still get better than epa rated mileage. The epa is clearly stupid if they they think the average leaf is going to get 3.3 miles per kwh, I average about 3.8 to 4 miles per kwh and I use the leaf like a pickup.

Do you also drive it 85mph down the freeway with the A/C at full blast? EV's are very sensitive to speed. As you've said before, you could double the range of your EV just by driving slower. I get 20-30mpg in my Prius. Does that mean everyone else gets 20-30mpg? Someone else gets 60mpg and uses his like a pickup. How is that possible? There are too many factors to account for to just use your own experience as the golden standard.

Where did the EPA say that? What model Leaf are we talking about? The first Leafs with the 24kWh battery were rated at 73 miles (2011-2012) then 75 miles (2013) then 84 miles (2014 and up). I've never seen where the EPA said a 24kWh Leaf would do 99 miles. The EPA did say the 30kWh Leafs should get 107 miles range.

My leaf proves why solar cars don't exist. It uses 300 to 400 kwh per month, a leaf sized solar panel is going to collect no where near that much power, especially since I park it under a tree in summer and in a garage during the winter.

Were you under the impression that this car can only be charged with solar ?
If you understand what they are saying, the solar ADDS to the charge you already have.
with 10, 20, or whatever solar miles a day, a lot of people will never have to plug in.

BTW , I wanted to ask everyone here why the Aptera doesn't follow the "Template", but I don't want to start a new thread.
If the Aptera followed the Template, there would be a lot more room in back, but not a huge amount added to the length.
Without much added to the length, it also wouldn't add much additional weight.

I traced the Template over the Aptera.
The black line in the AST, and the grey is the car underneath.

The Template (before it was beaten to death with a stick) was a half-body of revolution. The Aptera follows closely in frontal area.
