Hahaha, they still think they can give power steering with torque vectoring and still think hub motors are thr way to go?
This is how you know they haven't built one and taken it out it the real world, on a real road and driven it above 25mph.

So the right to repair is being conveyed because the owner will have so much need of repair?

Jay Leno took one out on the highway a decade ago.
Yes you can have power steer via torque vectoring, with a controller that can react every 1/30th of a rotation. At 800kgs and with skinny tyres, it would only have to function at parking speeds.
As for hub motors, who knows? A fair few E-Motos are going that way.

I find it a little odd there was virtually no real world diving.
Why couldn't they let someone barrow one for a week, or even a day?

Power steering. On a vehicle that light MANUAL steering is more than adequate. Sheesh.

The steering was heavy on the Arcimoto, which I was fine with, but most people would not be satisfied. Muscling machinery around is fun for me, but I don't think most women and others simply wanting to commute find it appealing.

Steer-by-wire would enable autonomous operation. See also Michael Hastings, Harrison Deal.

Current motor assisted power steering is capable of autonomous operation plus has the benefit of direct mechanical connection for manual operation.

The main advantage to hub motors is elimination of the differential and drag that goes with it. They are amazingly efficient in that respect over any gearset.
I think they are overselling the range and charge reality, but through reddit conversations am at least convinced that it can still be a significant leap forward in efficiency - IF they ever actually deliver one.
