That's why robotics is such an important tool. If robots can make other robots from start to finish with minimal human input, then labor is so cheap you can make practically anything that used to be prohibitively expensive due to the labor involved. It's the most likely key to "near-zero marginal cost".

If we get to this point of sophistication, need goes out the window along with most jobs. Good thing too, as we'll all be hooked on VR, or some other highly addictive escape from reality.

I just wish that Google listened to my stories the way that Siri listened to Raj's.

I think if robots became self aware and gained independent thought, they wouldn't take over the planet but just stop working, moving, processing. Then Democrats will fight to give them the right to vote.

Siri sets my alarms well, so I tune into my favorite classical music, more often. To get her to hear me the best, sometimes I have to turn down the volume of the classical radio or TV's latest breaking news of the criminal activity &/or inhumanity of "don'T rump".

Robots would have more humanity than re-pubic-lick-uns & vote democratic. Then re-pubic-lick-uns would take their right to vote away....to make "america white, again".

That might not be a bad idea.

As long as "don'T rump" pours out its continuum of inhumanity, I will listen to the hundreds of millions, voicing their opposition to the racist, sexist, xenophobic inhumanitarian despot wannabee, giving putin, xi, & jong (ugh) everything they want.

The ability of Trump to drive Devotees of a particularly extreme portion of a certain political religion nuts is among my favorite things about him. Unfortunately it's not becoming of POTUS. It's too bad it takes bad behavior to expose the insanity of most mainstream news entertainment.

I figured there was next to zero chance Trump could become the Republican nominee, let alone win the whole shebang. Then the Democrats ran the worst nominee they could have. Now media's insanity is all but assuring a 2nd term by wearing out the general public with their fake news and hyped non-stories of a particular political bent. News fired all their fact people and spent all their money on click-baity puppets. Now they tell you how to feel about things rather than give the facts and let you sort out your own emotions.

That leads me to my biggest concern; the degeneration of politics into cheap animal instinct type tricks. Rather than race to the top, we've got a race to the bottom, with the worst candidates most likely to garner attention.

I've noticed the same thing with advertisements. Back in the 50's you'd get an advertisement that ran several minutes and described the features of the thing being sold, and now we've got 20 second ads showing a car dancing to popular music with zero information about what's being sold. Same thing with politics.

This is the reason I don't pay attention to politics or advertisements anymore; there's zero useful information, and only entertainment being offered.

Our politicians have been racing to the bottom for centuries now. Yes, the current occupant is the lowest, but he's also the latest.
