I keep mine calibrated as precise as I can, but my wife doesn't bother.

I didn't mean to just dismiss that dipstick idea, but I do not have any idea at all how it would work. I don't think we would have anyway to tell what the measurements meant.

If we were to measure the depth and then add a known quantity of gas. you would be able to get a depth to volume ratio.

Only if the shape stayed completely the same. We could find values in a perfect cylinder, or shape, but one would have to know the precise shape, and how much would move it so much.

I think.

Wink

You would have to keep filling up with the same amount and measuring where it is on the stick. This way you could plot out how it changes to figure out a difference in gas volume with a little calculus.

In other words, implausible.

It's just a fun little competition, if someone uses so little gas that the nozzle clicks off immediately... kudos to them. They did great!

Thing is the filler tube is constant diameter it isn't straight, it bends around. One would have to insert a known volume into the neck and calibrate the fuel level rise, Eureka!

I plan on being there.

Not sure which car I will run, might do both if my wife wants.

Did I miss a post somewhere about exactly where we're to meet? A parking lot in Broadview Heights? Or the BP in Brecksville??
