There are always some body work to do into old beaters. BTW have you never considered to replace some floor panels with custom ones made out of some lighter material such as aluminium? Attaching it to the rest of the body with Araldite instead of either welding or rivetting prevents the galvanic corrosion at a certain degree. Or you could make that with fiberglass that is gonna be free from any corrosion, I've already seen some old Jeeps which had the floor patched with fiberglass after some rusty pieces were cut away. Another reasonably easy-to-work material is plywood, widely used to make floor panels for shuttle buses (you can soak it with Araldite too, to increase its durability).

That's one lesson that's good to learn. If something looks like its got rust on the outside you can bet its twice as bad on the other side. After years of rust repair I'm not suprised at all to find this. From the underside it looked like 2 pinholes spots that were rusted!!! The rubber floor mat may covered it up.

I'll be using plain old fashioned sheet metal. It's a pretty flat floor in those sections. I'll probably roll in some supports for strength.

I would be afraid of using aluminum as floor pans in the rust belt; they would disintegrate in a few years.

I found floor pans for it!! 100 bux for both sides. Will save me some time with fabrication.
Interior is almost fully stripped save for the dash. Not sure if I'm taking that out yet. Oh well. More pics of some interior trim being restored.

Note: the longer door panels require more random household items to flatten. Such as a crock pot full of dirty dishes

woa, I missed something! Looks nice. How did you paint the interior soft panels? What kind of paint? What kind of applicator?
