Yeah, but what's the load? Looks like you're packed to move, not trip.

Oh, right. I'm headed to Minneapolis for a few months and then it's off to New Zealand. I have a killer job offer and I made a killing on my house. Time to have a midlife crisis in paradise.

I can only guess what the trailer weighs. It's mostly books, electronics and tools for the first 18 inches or so, with disassembled furniture and a bicycle stacked on top. Undoubtedly north of 1000lbs, south of 2000.

So, did you already decide about taking the Insight with you to New Zealand?

Yeah. Sadly it's not worth the risk.

What risk? Doesn't it match the requirements for the LHD import into New Zealand?

If it were unmodified, yes. It's probably 40% original by weight now.

AFAIK some modified vehicles were sent there despite being LHD, such as conversion vans. Seems like New Zealand is not so much simpler than Australia or the European Union when it comes to grey imports... BTW do you have any clue about how the mods influence the suitability of the Insight for towing?

Having owned both a 64 Type 2 and a 66 Type 2 I can comfortably say that the later ones are so much more useful all because of the larger rear door.
