Are you serious?

Because if you are I may have found a new personal toy.

Is the diesel an iron block? If so, it would be much heavier and mess up the handling.

Assuming that we are talking about the LB7/LLY; it's iron block Aluminum cylinder heads.

My understanding is it's similar weight to an iron block small block chevy.
Definitely heavier than the LS1.

As I recall a friend of mine who used to run his car at "open track" events said the Z06 (C5) vettes would "pop" (his word) the rear rotors cracking them from exsessive heat. I do understand that its a more extreeme use of the vehicle.. Just something to keep in mind.

Are you trying to make it faster or conserve fuel?

I believe there is a gap in bodywork under the engine. An undertray would benefit you here. If you are aiming for speed you could build a full set of tunnels under it, rules permitting.

As for the vortex generators question, there is a gent on the Airtab website who put them across the back of the deck lid & down the rear quarter panels. He claims in the neighborhood of 2-3 mpg increase. Which if true, should help in both departments.
