Depends. Would you need to move a 4x8 sheet by yourself?

I put additional coats of polyurethane on the edges to seal them.

My house was built in 1976 and has MDF sheets over the tongue and groove floors to give a smooth surface under the carpet.

Permit...???

Don’t need no stinking permit.

This is a case where it’s better to seek forgiveness rather than permission...

On-brand, Redneck.

I move 5/8ths-thick 4x8 plywood boards by myself.

It isn't fun...

Sometimes I make my brother carry things. It is fun when he grunts and groans as he carries a cinder block, bag of manure, or whatever, and I am carrying two...

He is pretty much my size and enjoys picking up people. He picked up my sister's full-sized refrigerator to get stuff out from underneath it.

He just did not set it down gently...

The page with the picture of waterproofed particle board said that the edges absorbed too much polyurethane, but he would tell us what to do about it.

Where did he tell us what to do about it?!

You want good penetration on the edges. They don't have the protective surface. Prime with wood filler.

In the 1970s you could get 1/8" particle board. It was used to level out mismatched surfaces, but full sheets were brittle.

Cheaper than Sheetrock.

Looks better too.

Particle board sucks, literally. Would not use for any reason, especially floors. Full size vinyl flooring for cost, ease of upkeep and penetration of liquids.

Your not building the Taj Mahal...

Don't use the particle board made from sawdust.
It's junk.

Are they making particle boards from individual particles now?

Lawn is cheaper than drywall?!

Do you guys agree on anything?

We'd probably agree that you have a lot of questions.

The thing is you have a lot of options.
