The cars you wished you had owned

I thought it would be interesting to see what others considered their "dream" cars. I know it has little to do with eco driving or modding but hey we can dream, right?

Jag XKE, mid 60s and I would actually prefer the coupe versus convertible.
340 Duster, almost ordered one new in 1969, my dealer employee price was $2975.

Not really crazy dream cars like Dusenberg or an Alfa from the 1930s just realisticly attainable cars I never got around to buying.

regards
mech

My first choice would have been a AC Cobra. Next it would be a 997 Turbo Porsche.

But I was in high School when Muscle cars were a dime a dozen. Late 70's and early 80's.

My first cars I owned
1st 1969 440 Charger RT SE.
2nd 1967 442
3rd 1971 340 Demon 4 speed
4th 1970 340 Cuda
5th 1969 383 Charger RT
6th 1968 RS SS 350 4 speed Camaro

I was very lucky to have owned some cool cars in the beginning.

1997-1999 Toyota Supra. Black with a howling Wolf on the side. Twin turbo.
1969 BOSS 302 Mustang. Blue with black stripes.
Z28 Camero. Forget the year, but the older ones. Yellow.
1970 Dodge challenger. Black.
Nissan Skyline R34. Dark blue.
GM EV1 I think it was called. GM crushed them all after a trial run.

All of these cars except the EV1 and BOSS 302 are obtainable for me in the future. I was looking into getting the twin turbo Supra, but my job cut hours and I had to stop looking.

On topic for the Lounge, right? Does this have to be like forever, or just in the last few minutes?

The one I learned about here:

The Cd is equal to the new XL-1. One example exists in a museum in France, but I'd prefer a replica—hand formed aluminum body, Inrekor flat-pack replacement floorpan and Toyota Synergy Drive components in a pure electric drive-train. BMW i3 tires on 4x19" Centerline wheels. Interior from the Rome-Berlin racer. I can't find a picture, but it's like a modern supercar, but with 1930s restraint and materials. The fixed door windows make it possible.

When I was a kid my dream car was a McLaren F1.
These days, most likely due in large part to the unhealthy amount of time I spend on GRM, my automotive tastes run the gamut.
Vehicles I'd like to own (in no particular order):
FJ80 Landcruiser
Honda S2000
Mid 80's Jaguar XJS (V12)
Subaru BRZ
'68 Barracuda Hemi, Super Stock
BMW E39 M5
Lincoln Mark VII GTC Stage III
Air-Cooled VW Beetle
Honda CRX Si
Infinity Q45
Lexus LS400
BMW E34 530i
Jeep XJ Cherokee
'01-'04 Ford Crown Victoria P71
Kenworth w900, 72" sleeper, 18 speed, 12V71TT (and someone else to work on it lol)
Something like the Elio but with 4 seats and 4 tires.
Boxy Chevy Suburban, 6.2 (diesel), 6-speed (manual), 4wd (stock height)
Merkur Scorpio, 1.6 ecoboost, 6-speed (manual)
Volvo 850 T5-R
Ford Raptor
Alfa Romeo GTV6
EV-1

On top of all those I usually have a flavor of the week that comes and goes; Cruze Eco, Focus SFE, EcoBoost Mustang, etc...I think I have a problem.

I'd had my Legacy GT for a few months before I realized I had made a mistake. Yes, I wanted power and versatility, but what I should have done was bought a motorcycle and an econobox.

I would have spent less money on the iron, gotten more performance and the utility would have been at a lot higher mpg. Come to hink of it, the performance would have been at a lot higher mpg, too.

But I loved the car and drove it for years.

There's three which come to mind that I regret not buying.

Triple black '65 Thunderbird with a 390
Triple black '64 Lincoln Continental convertible
Two-tone light blue '58 Cadillac Series 62 2-door

All three were clean, solid survivors priced right around $10k, any of them could have been daily drivers just as they were.

A few of my humble dream rides...

GMT400 Chevy Tahoe with the 6.5TD engine converted to run on WVO;

Hummer H1 station-wagon;

JDM Toyota Corolla station-wagon with those rounded headlamps, 4WD and 2C-T engine (have already seen some with Paraguayan plates);

Toyota Land Cruiser 70-series;

Suzuki Samurai with some random Diesel repowering

.

1969 Z28 Camaro with the High performance 302.

Or, as long as we're wishing. With the COPO 9560 option - an all-aluminum 427 cu in (7.0 L) big-block called the ZL-1 .

The only reason I would have went with the 427 over the 302 though, would have been for the weight savings. Which we all know leads to better fuel economy...

If you believe that one...

I'll tell you another...
