Don't feel dirty, it's just the market talking: if anyone else at all in the area were interested, it'd be gone by now.

Well, they want to fight the market: they say they're firm at $5.5k.

(And how well has that worked for them in the past month? )

I told them if they want to sell it, they have my contact info.

"Prius prey"; would that then become a "Preyus"?

Sorry, I couldn't help myself.

I thought you said 5.5K was about where they started. So they called for people to contact them wit a price instead of relisting with their 5.5K price only to insist on 5.5K when someone contacted them with a price?

Yikes. Best to let them contact you in the future. Maybe they'll sell at 5k or a little lower, or maybe not. Up to them.

This is fun. Thanks for sharing the deets of the search... useful for me.

The antithesis of a dirty lowballer is a spotless broke highballer. I like my change too much, LOL.

That thing has a cassette player! My 1998 Honda did not have one of those anymore. Wow!

More or less what happened. This is the 4th time they've re-listed. First: $6k; 2nd: $5.5k; 3rd: $6k (go figure); 4th: "contact us".

OOOH! FRESH MEAT! And within my C.R.A.P. Prius radius....

2001 with lower than average kms (192k kms = 119k miles).

Asking $1500.

This'll disappear quickly if it's decent, but unfortunately I don't have the chance to look until the weekend. I'll contact him and may aim for Saturday.

He might be a "curbsider" dealer though. He has 2 unlicensed cars for sale currently, but lists them as private sales, and the photos look like a small car lot.

Sweeping Generalization Time:

1st gen Prius owners who advertise their cars for sale don't seem to grasp the concept of actually communicating with prospective buyers.

Not a peep back on the above 2001 after 2 messages in 2 days.

That's 3 uncommunicative gen. 1 sellers for me.

That has little to do with being a gen1 prius. Most super deal priced things get lots of calls. What gets me is the people that don't delete the ad once sold.
