Actually, the Tata logo looks suspiciously like a Toyota logo! Look close on the hood.

I wonder what the top speed is on the nano? I would assume is is 55-75mph.
Someone on the internet said they purposely had a center mounted gauge to make it cheaper to produce right and left drive models (not having to make two different dashboards). I don't know if that's true but it would make sense.

The Tata was just mentioned on National Public Radio's WAIT WAIT DON'T TELL ME news quiz program.
It was right at the end in the lightning round. I think the panelist got it wrong, but I knew the answer!

Quoted top speed is 60 MPH.
Does the Nano remind anyone else of the Mitsubishi iCar?

From that image, the bearings are rated for 70km/hr (44mph)... could be wrong....

LOL on that image!
Quick Quiz: How many of you have cars with headlight levelers? LOL
If that windshield is as square as it looks, the coverage of the single wiper should be about as good as dual wipers have on rectangular windshields.
The wheel bearing thing surprises me though- could Tata engineers be that clueless? I doubt it, so I am doubting the assertion that those bearings are only trustworthy to 44 mph. That seems to be an unusual oversight and even if it was true, it should be something fairly easy to correct.

Wheel bearings are pretty freaking cheap as is... And by design are simple... AND - anyone that owns a car will, at some point, over load their car... Bearings aren't exactly what you want to fail...
For the levelers... IIRC it's a standard feature on on my car in Europe...

From the BBC article posted a few days ago
Looks like it's mechanically (not just design) limited to 70km/hr. I laugh where it says "Windows wind down by hand" - since when did manual windows become so complicated?
I think it's also worth noting that adhesives have replace welding in almost all mfrs - not completely of course, but the way it's presented -it seems like a bad thing...

The car is really cheap in price, but without having any nice features, obviously it was to reduce the cost..
This car has been specially targeted for the lower middle class, the people who can't afford a full fledged car and have to use bike 12 months of the year.
Hence, for that class - its a dream come true to drive a car with more safety and luxury than a bike!
Some facts -
- The image denotes only the basic car, but the radio/AC/power staring options are available at extra cost!
- this car has passed norms Bharat Stage III and Euro III
- Almost 80% of the cars in developing countries do not have safety features like air bags in India. ( I drive $20000 car which does not have air bags)
- The manufacturer is TATA - one of the top 5 companies in India.
- TATA SOFTWARE is also the largest software exporter company in Asia.
- TATA STEEL has acquired CORUS another steel company which was 5 times bigger than TATA
- TATA is buying Jaguar and Land Rover
- All FORD cars worldwide have 25% of parts manufactured by TATA
After launching this car, other manufacturers (NISSAN, SUZUKI, TOYOTA) also announced the similar plans.
