Nobody stepping up to defend socialism? Do I have to do everything around here? Alright...

Richard D. Wolf: Economic Update: Worker Co-Ops, Socialism's Future

When I left the military in my 20s, I thought it was ironic that our defense against nazism/communism was no free market. First time I was fired from a job I started (with others) a worker's cooperative landscaping business. It functioned well until we absorbed two Californian brothers and they tore it apart.

Socialism and dictatorships work better the smaller the unit being attended to.

We practice socialism in my family in the sense that resources are distributed according to need, and a dictatorship in the sense that ultimately 1 person makes the final decision to implement a course of action. The further from small units you get, the less effective the strategy. I can tell if someone in my family has a need, is wasting some resource, or otherwise taking advantage of something. There's no practical way for me (or some bureaucratic agency) to know if some random stranger has an actual need, or how responsibly they utilize the assistance they receive from the public.

... and I found out SA is available via the iPhone's terrible podcast app, so that's how I'm listening now. Just wish there was a 1.25x option, as that speed normalizes SAs slow speech.

The part I found interesting was the explanation of how it could very much be in Trump's interest to permit a place for TerraPower to build a test reactor. Unfortunately the time horizon for such projects is so far out that there's not much immediate recognition one could get, but plenty of push back from NIMBY and uninformed environmental types.

We have a President that thrives on push-back. He can make it so.

Back then we found that the three forms of organization available to us were sole proprietorship/partnership, incorporation or cooperative. An example of the latter being Darigold.

Darigold is a Northwest farmer-owned and led cooperative founded in 1918 by a small group of Washington farmers. Today we are owned by a diverse group of dairy farm families — all members of the Northwest Dairy Association — who are scattered across Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington.
The problem is one of scalability. Which is why Open Source software is so important. Another example of mutualism.

When they tried it in Spain in the 1930s every government on Earth jumped on them.

Seven years after Buckminster Fuller wrote Spaceship Earth. He put the tools on the shelf that he knew we would need in the age of nanotechnology.

It may be more fruitful if we distinguish between statecraft, and who owns the means of production.
As to condemnation of national atrocities,'Let he who has sinned not, cast the first stone.'

A short presentation on your part will help us all process the IPCC data you've experienced, for the common good.Otherwise,we're stuck in an identical context trap.
