The climate change agenda will be among the casualties of the Ukraine war. The idiotic climate policies that drive up the price of oil, natural gas and coal funded this war. It's well known Putin gets bold when his war budget is high on oil money.
How ironic. Trying to save the world unleashed the largest war since world war 2 and now threats of nuclear war are being tossed around. That will be great for the environment.

I'm hopeful. I haven't forgotten the end of Yugoslavia during the '70 years of peace'. But I'm prepared to be surprised.
What is this 'Trying to save the world ...' of which you speak. That seems to be on hiatus.
edit: If this is not a deep fake, then it sounds like both Russia and Ukraine come out ahead on the deal. https://patriots.win/p/141s2DEwLO/br...ased-joe-bi/c/

Most people I interact with seem to think the unintentional mucking with the outdoor thermostat is more threatening to human life than intentional harm. Those people aren't talking much these days for some reason.
Regular was over $5/gallon in SoCal. Saw lots of Tesla's while down there, but still a lot of ICE vehicles. Then again their electricity rate is twice that of the rest of the nation, so there's no winning.

The problem is the will to do anything about heat, cold and falling objects has been exhausted. Ruggedizing society would not be trivial.

Of course!
In a capitalist society, what you want to do is, kill any idea of a green new deal which would render a situation in which the cost of oil, natural gas, and coal had absolutely no affect on the US economy.
It's always more wise to bankrupt an empire, fighting fossil-fuel energy war after fossil-fuel energy war, all over the globe, passing all costs onto the working man and their offspring, for generations into the future.
Obviously, when Americans purchase hydrocarbons, it has absolutely no affect on demand side inflation.
Burning the energy-equivalency of two American homes' worth of energy a month, with a full-sized pickup or SUV could never affect demand side economics and the price of energy.
Certainly the New World Order's Federal Reserve system, or some other nefarious, dastardly plot is causing all the trouble. Not American consumers, with loose credit and the bankers they go to bed with.
That $23 electric bill really destroyed me last month! That zero $ mortgage payment. That zero $ car payment. That zero $ -full-coverage auto insurance policy. Zero $ credit card minimum payment.
'Riches-to-Rags' That's what Americans choose. Brilliant!

Two (or more) things can be true at once. 1. The Green New Deal would be the worst humanitarian disaster the modern world has seen. 2. Conspicuous consumption (expending resources to display wealth/power/status) is needlessly wasteful.
The GND is DOA, which is fantastic news for humans living in the USA. Conspicuous consumption is still a cultural phenomenon, which society will have to gradually change. Problem is, consumption is encoded at the lowest level of our biology. I have no ideas for solutions other than to state the obvious that it must also tap into the deepest core of our biology to stand a chance of succeeding.
I toured the USS Midway Saturday, and the whole time I was extremely impressed. Everything was made of thick heavy steel. 4,000 person crew. 130 aircraft. I'd be less impressed touring a dinghy. It's easier for me to imagine the design and construction of the simpler vessel compared with the seemingly infinitely complex carrier. Complexity is interesting.

Oregon has a self insurance option. An account can be maintained at a certain value for the sole purpose of providing liability insurance, and that is seen as equivalent to 3rd party insurance in the eyes of the law.
I've thought about going this route many times. I'd rather my insurance premiums accrue interest to me than to make a large corporation wealthy.

War in Europe no matter the cause will effect the US economy.
With the solar panels and Electric car I usually have a $50 energy bill. I don't know or care what other people do with the energy they buy.
