1) his sources may be reputable, but the same cannot be said of S-O.
2) his first example is a lie. it is a hypothesis, which the authors freely admitted had never been tested, nor even data gathered, from which to do the test. It was never completed. Never corroborated by other investigators.
3) S-O has no record as a reputable clearing house for scientific data. Just cherry-picked, obscure, hypotheses, never backed up by others.
4) it's not science.
5) get a copy of B.D.'s tax return and you're likely to see who's pulling the levers behind the curtain.

Earth's polarity is not a constant. Unlike a classic bar magnet, or the decorative magnets on your refrigerator, the matter governing Earth's magnetic field moves around. Geophysicists are pretty sure that the reason Earth has a magnetic field is because its solid iron core is surrounded by a fluid ocean of hot, liquid metal.

1) you'll notice that NASA's graphic, and lines of flux are virtually identical to that of a bar magnet. Hence my comparison.
2) it represents the geomagnetic dipole field.
3) Earth's axial quadrupole has only 4% the strength of the geomagnetic field, so is not prominent.
4) the quadrupole is aligned with the dipole.
5) Earth's octupole is also weak, and of same alignment.
PS you may examine the date of the NASA material to see if it's long in the tooth.
