Theoretically, yes, although the synthetic ethanol would be the easy part for the 'distiller'.
It's the other organic compounds and 'aging' they'd be tasked with 'duplicating'.
When I drank, the drunker I got, the less discerning I became, and once the 'house' was spinning, just before I threw up, it wouldn't have made a difference where the stuff originated ( Oskar Schindler's proverbial 'motor oil' ).

I suppose it depends on what the objective is. If ones point is to get efficiently and quickly inebriated, then synthetic would be the choice over a 20 + year old cask aged bourbon since asking for a rare one by name in a bar is kinda pricey.

Used to do the speedo method, but the drugs I am using for various ailments put an end to that. Ruined my aspiring reputation for alcoholism
