Forty-nine claims and they don't include that the ship in question 'set sail' with a fire in one of the coal bunkers.

Aaaand.... we're back on topic.

AFAIK the fire started later. As there was a miners strike at the time, and White Star Lines was in a hurry to take the Titanic on the maiden voyage, a lower-grade coal which was more brittle was used. As it had a higher sulphur content and released much more dust, it was basically gun powder, only lacking some Potassium Nitride. Well, the manure of marine birds tend to have a higher amount of Nitrides in general...

Don't need nitrates, the dust is so fine that it burns rapidly. As we used to say at the rocket engine test site: the difference between a successful firing and an explosive destruction is time the event took. An explosion is a really fast event fire

Take some wood sanding dust from a 100 grit and light it. It kinda explodes.

Of course. On a sidenote, Rudolf Diesel almost died trying to use coal dust as a fuel for an ICE at least once.

It never was about "saving the planet".
https://youtu.be/2tqhi0UVqK8

Step 1 buy up "green power".
Step 2 buy up coal.
Step 3 close some of the coal plants and force the price of electricity way up, say it's to "save the planet".
Step 4 sell the coal to china
Step 5 stack train loads of cash.
Step 6 find next evil plan.

All that tree-hugging BS is only an excuse for corporations pandering to the tree-huggers to charge anyone else for that.
