How about having a large, clear window section to see through with one of those rigid roll up covers from the bottom of that back to the tailgate?
That way large cargo could be hauled without needing to remove anything, until the cargo is large enough to require removal of the roll up cover and window section.
Could make the window hinge down and have some way to secure the rolled up cover inside. If you're hauling something that large you won't be using the inside rear view mirror anyway.

Aerolid siting
Intelligence officials have reported a recent siting of an Aerolid, plus boat tail-modified 2014 Ford F-150 Crew Cab EcoBoost pickup. The truck was spotted departing Little Rock,Arkansas, and made its way into Oklahoma,Texas, and finally into New Mexico to an undisclosed location north of Las Cruces.
CIA photo-analysts are having difficulty with photo interpretation,as a cabin bright spot anomaly, which has now been linked to the driver's smile, affected camera light metering capabilities.
EPA mobile CO2 monitoring stations had difficulty distinguishing the vehicle from background noise, reports Ann Arbor,Michigan laboratories.
The American Petroleum Institute is considering charges for market tampering, although the Joint Chiefs of Staff are applauding the anomaly,as well as the FED Chairman and Homeland Security.
A Ford Motor Company spokesperson knows of no corporate connection to the incident, but admitted that they are intimately knowledgeable with the technology.
Detectives have formed a dragnet in the Little Rock area.
Additional information will be released as it becomes available.

There is a safe house in Indiana for such miscreants.

Sorry to see this GREAT Idea end up like so many others from history, but looks like another great invention was realized and once the patent was secured, no one ever hears from the inventor again. So many ideas have been bought up or hushed by money or other accidents.
I spent the last few days reading this thread from the beginning to the last post hoping to find that production was now fully underway. Sorry to read at the end that no one has been ably to contact Brett. With a patent having been issued anyone else here is pretty much unable to take this to production without risking a lawsuit. I guess the best we can do is try to make our own.
Anyone have a mold for a full size 94-02 Dodge 8ft bed?

Aerolid siting update
The UFO (unidentified frugal object) preliminary performance report was filed on Thanksgiving Eve,and submitted electronically to EV World.com..The article is in the queue and may see publication in about a months time.
Subsequent inquiry reveals that in a round trip test, from Las Cruces to Deming,New Mexico, that the 2014 F-150 matched,or exceeded the mpg of the 2015 F-150,all-aluminum-bodied 3.5-liter EcoBoost Crew Cab 4WD,while sporting only the Aerolid.
A team of maxillofacial surgeons were dispatched,to help remove the fixed smile from the driver's face.
NOAA's Hawaiian Mauna Kea monitoring station reported a sharp drop in carbon.
OPEC is petitioning the US State Dept.and wants the Obama administration to DO something about the abuse.
Little Rock,Arkansas remains under surveillance.

With patents the game is circumvention. As an example look at the history of electrical radio. Tesla took the foundational patents. Marconi found a way around them. Alexanderson found a way around Marconi's. Then deForest invented the triode tube and electronic radio swept electrical radio into the dust bin of history. Have you ever even heard of Alexanderson?
So look at the patent. Rolled and riveted sheet metal instead of laborously produced molds and toxic chemicals might be enough for circumvention.
R. B. Fuller was famous for the comprehensive language in his patents.

When Bruce Myers got caught up on his Dune Buggy orders after two years, he looked around, and saw that he had 15% of the market. Fiberglass is easy to knock off, so he'd done all the legal groundwork, and called in the lawyers. Then he went broke.
DO NOT WORRY ABOUT PATENTS. Just be nice if you get a letter, and explain how easily he could wind up chasing someone else if he doesn't like your offer.
