Not going to happen on the F150. Look closer at the demographics. That buyer WILL NEVER eco-mod their truck.

YOu want to market to the low hanging fruit (eco-modders) WITH money (buyers of new eco-type cars).

on the insurance side.
I have an aftermarket IMPUL body kit on my 2002 Infiniti Q45 Sport. My insurance required that I disclose that if I wanted them to cover the replacement in an accidient. The kit was $4000+ so I disclosed it.
I 'might' include a line in the install instructions to notify your insurer of 'any' add-ons.

just my humblr opinion

I have to disagree on the F-150. If fuel economy wasn't a concern for full-size pickup owners, then explain the success of the Ecoboost V6 option, 200k units since its introduction. Not to mention, skirts give them an old-school look which many people like. Will every F-150 owner buy them? Definitely not! But even at 0.001% of annual sales, we'd still sell 400 units per year. That's worth it to us.

You right on the %. Some times in marketing that's the way to look at it.

BUT (you knew that was coming...lol) that buyer will do stuff that cant be seen...like an ecoboost....but wont do an extrenal mod.
again just my ho.

I would love to have a pair of skirts for my 2012 Elantra. My girlfriend mandates that the car has to look factory in any modifications I do. It would be great to be able to buy some rather than try to make myself.

I took liberties with your mockup. The two changes I made were to align a groove with the step in the body panel, and drop the lip to align with the reverse step lower down. The curve at the front and rear would move up and out, for tire clearance.

Here's that area handled in a more aero-friendly way:

===========

FWIW, you saved as a PNG which is good because it carries an Alpha channel. But in the blow-up you can see JPEG artifacts around the curves on the wheelwell. So the file spent part of its life as a .jpg. When you are preparing your collateral materials, that will be important for reproduction.

I don't have Sven7's freehand line (out of practice), but here's what I do with Photoshop:

Starting in upper left, I did a crude Photochop as in upper right. That was printed out and drawn on freehand (not shown). I overlaid that and did a new freehand sketch on a lightbox (a window works in the daytime). This step is weakest, the drawing is merely serviceable.

That was scanned back in. The scanned file got a 2nd pass through Photoshop for tinting and a caption.

Hope This Helps

Edit: 'printed that out, again,' became 'overlaid that'

I'd definately make them for the Prius. Thats where you'll make the most money, especially at your price range.

Can you have tooling for multiple part numbers that count toward that total? Point your market machine research tool at thesamba.com. I'd take mine in ABS with a new 'not-the-50s' fender lip.
[... cool VW bug picture here ...]

Heck, with those narrowed front axles, you could make matching front fenders skirts and they'd be screaming "TAKE MY MONEY!"
Thanks for posting this. These are the classic car examples I like to talk about. If I had a VW Karmann Ghia I would definitely get skirts :

I'd buy an s-10 kit when you get them going. Either painted, or unpainted. Let me know when you get through the demo-ing on your own vehicles...

email me jonathon.schram@gmail.com as I'm not on ecomodder all the time.
