I don't understand why you keep calling your cars crapcans but you do keep informing us how well they do. Some kind of jekyl-hyde syndrome?

Ecomodder is not dead
According to this site, our forum had its "most users ever online" of 5,560 on "06-11-2019 at 05:42 AM." That surprised me because it is relatively recent. I feel like I remember the previous high was from 2012 or something and went unchanged for a long time.
At this moment, there are about 850 of us here in the forum, but only three members are logged in.
I think those data points speak to where the decline really is: active members logging in and posting. I doubt "ecomodding" is dying so much as active posting on this forum is declining.
Bringing the personal attacks down might help, but lots more is needed: new members with good ideas and reasonable personalities, rethinking some of the content, refresh the appearance. ?? dunno...

Yes it was 2012 or 2013. You know when the cheap gasoline had been stuck at $3.50 a galon for a few years with no end in sight.
Just think, what posts, or kinds of posts were hot at that moment in time?

Yeah. I think that is right, too. Here's the thing, land on the EM site main page right now and it looks really dated both in graphics and content. The banner features a 25 year old (approx) gasoline car (a Metro). Why not include an EV?
The description of what ecomodding is features only ICE platforms when it refers to "pumps" :

Welcome to EcoModder.com, an automotive community where performance is judged by fuel economy rather than power and speed. EcoModders employ a combination of vehicle mods, driving techniques, and common sense to squeeze every penny out of the pumps. Reasons for becoming a member range from the economical to the ecological. More info about where EcoModding came from.

Maybe this should use more PHEV and BEV language, too.
And the left column features only the top gasoline cars? Why not a EV listing too? (Do we even have enough EV-driving members for that?)
A lot of the knowledge on this forum pertains to a BEV as well as an ICE. But if you came to the site, you would not realize that.
Also, we draw interest from folks with work trucks of a few types. Why don't we build on that. Truck subforums. More representation of them on the main page. Improving a work truck's EPA fuel economy by 10% is still ecomodding, even if it still gets under 20 MPG US.
Just thinking outloud... but some of this has been on my mind for a long, long time...

Running the same forum platform over a decade doesn't help either. I wish this forum were easier to use, and other forums have a "dark mode".

Yes. And with appreciation and respect for the founders and the moderators, wouldn't there be some sort of way this member community might crowd source tech, labor, funds to renovate and update the site (without changing its character or purpose)? I would donate time and money.

Ok the dumpster fire known as "the climate change concensus" was raging the second week of July 2019 based on my lounge posts.
Search posts older than a year ago and search your name or some one else's name select a specific forum if you get over 500 results before 2 years ago in all forums. Then skip pages back to mid 2019.
My work truck post gets a ton of views. It bumped maybe 2 years ago and had like a quarter million views.

Yes. I love that. We could do more with it, too, probably. Make it more conspicuous... have its own subforum...? ...and attract more people with knowledge and interest in the ecomodding smart and on the cheap spirit that is the central interest of ecomodder.com

A truck forum probably isn't a horrible idea.
