Good points, both of you!
The only reason that I want a Prius is because it hurts my feelings to push my car up one hill, [engine] break down the other side, and then push my car back up the next hill!
In my first car, a 1987 Honda Prelude Si, I coasted down some hills, and coasted up the next one.
We will not discuss what speed that car reached.
With my Accord I turn off cruise control, downshift as I go downhill, and accelerate as hard as I can up the next hill without the developmentally-delayed butler downshifting whether I want it to or not.
The idea of leaving cruise control on the entire time is appealing. Dealing with hybrid batteries is not.

Only with the hybrid battery...we won't talk about the speed on those downhill EOC runs with the IMA disabled.

On a related note, it seems the LTO lithium replacement pack is nearly done, and has vastly more usable capacity than the stock pack. Was reading about it on IC earlier. There are some drawbacks on paper which don't seem to be showing up in practice. I think I'd have been very tempted by this pack.

1996 Civic EX $750 https://baltimore.craigslist.org/cto...833258555.html
1996 Honda Civic, manual transmission, sedan, 140,000 miles.
Engine and transmission are in great shape. Runs great but needs some small details: brakes, trailing arm bushing, two tires, and power steering pump (eventually).
Has recently installed Gates timing belt kit, rear brakes (drums, shoes, hardware and wheel cylinder), alternator, motor mounts, oil, coolant, wiper blades, accessory belts (alt, ps, wp), spark plugs, and battery.
The car runs like a champ and I had originally intended to daily drive the car. But I was recently injured and can longer work on the car. It needs a few things repaired but once repaired, will pass MD inspection. I have the original inspection with the repair items, the repairs I have completed, and a few new parts such as front brake pads.
