Do I just tow it two hours to the nearest dealership and have them cut a new key ?

Both of my Insights had no keys. I removed the locked steering columns and towed them home with a tow bar. I later got $5 keys from the dealer and removed the immobilizers. Reprogramming for immobilizer keys wasn't worth the cost to me.

No chip, just a key.

The current owner can get a key cut at the dealer with proof of ownership and the VIN.

I need to replace the key for my Accord. From what I have seen, I need my car there.

Confirmation bias in action! Theory: the Toyota Tercel is the cockroach of economy cars (in a good way)
$1350 for a manual '97 Tercel with 280k kms = 174k miles on it.

What's remarkable is it's being sold "certified", which in Ontario means it passed the mandatory mechanical/safety inspection that permits a buyer to legally plate & drive it.
That's the cheapest such car I've seen around here maybe ever.

Proll'y cuz it does have a chip built in to the key. You'll find them in almost all Honda's of that era.
Don't still have the old, now-broken key by chance?

It works in the ignition, just not the driver's side. Sometimes it doesn't work on the passenger side. After 4 days, when I finally returned my rental van, I told the guy that my car may not look like much, but I was glad to see her. Then when I unlocked the passenger door it locked itself and when I started the engine the belt squealed.
That is a two-year-old OEM belt, but I guess that the tensioner loosened enough times in ≈24 months that I need to replace the belt.
I adjusted it a month or two ago until it stopped squealing, but it did it again the next time that I drove the car!
It looks like the Accord does have a chip in the key and the Civic does not, but I don't think that I will be taking any Honda to the dealership until I have the title and registration. Driving it home and waiting for paperwork sounds smarter.
Hey, does anyone know how to buy a car that doesn't run and drive?
By the way, the Metro sold.

No (working) power locks? If it does, and you're just missing the fob, they're cheap and can be DIY programmed to the car. In theory.

I saw that! The only rust-free Metros around here have been parked in barns for 20 years.
