I'm interested in this as well, I want to give some kind of boost to an old jeep. Wondering if this was possible for it

I have mounted the solenoid, but other than that, no real progress is made. I'm changing jobs again and should have more time now. I'm going to really push to have this project complete by the 1 year mark of this thread.

Have you had any time to make progress? Can you finish it in the next 7 days?

I believe I can finish it except the batteries in the next 7 days. Will I? It's hard to tell. Life has been pretty dramatic lately, (had to catch the last shuttle launch, good best passed away, starting grad school) and I'd love to get a few hours to finish the wiring. I have: Hooked up the gauge, wired it in, wired the switch, wired the throttle, set the contactor in place (but not wired it). I have also wired the heavy cable in place and only need to run it to the battery pack, and get the batteries themselves.

Thanks for the supports guys.

OK. So.. It's been a year. So as promised, this is what I got:

I've installed and wired both the gauge pack in and the control button:

("Don't ever push the little red button.")

I've also finished (save for one lug) wiring up the motor, all 3 phase wires are on, as well as the 6 pulse wires.

I'll try and get the lug on today, I actually had it on before, but had to switch it to wire up the controller since the motor would be easier to get to.

Speaking of the controller, it's now wired up underneath the driver seat. The throttle is connected, the gauge is connected, the control wires are done. All connections are soldered and wrapped and tucked away. The only thing still needing wired at this point (other than the main battery pack) is the contactor. Which I was told I could omit, but I don't see why I should really.

So right now I need:

A main switch to turn it on and off
And to wire up the batteries.

And to get rid of this mess sitting behind the driver seat:

Shouldn't be too much longer before I can get the motor spinning!

After staring longingly at the diagram some more, I've realized I seem to be missing a relay. I imagine I could get by without it as well, since the simpler (but not as clear) diagram that came with the motor doesen't include one. But I wonder if will be worth it to install one?

Full diagram, for anyone who is interested:

Installed the contactor. Installed the main power switch. Running all these little wires through out the car is a lot more time consuming than I thought it would be. Waiting on some extra ring terminals now, and while doing that I'm going to start shopping for batteries.

Very interested in seeing your system working, with my recently developed skill in EOC and P&G I can see a benefit to some form of electrical assist as well as auto stop/start for improved FE on a non hybrid car like my Yaris. The only thing I would add is solar Panels to charge the batteries. Adding a light push from the electric motor could increase the glide portion substantially...

That's pretty much the opposite of this right?
