Take off any usable parts and call a scrapper or haul it yourself to one.

Well that's no fun!

OK, ultimately that's the end game.

But before I do that, I keep wondering how to connect a bicycle chain to that transmission input shaft...

Epilogue...

Last flight of the ForkenSwift...

I've held on to the shell for all these years because I really wanted to turn it into either (A) a pedal car, or; (B) yard art.

But if it hasn't happened by now, it's probably not going to happen!

It hurt a wee bit to say goodbye.

The wreckers eased the pain by giving me $91 for the carcass, which was honestly more than I was expecting. It was mostly iron oxide with a bit of blue paint on it!

Retired or recycled?

I had a few people through the years ask me if the FS was for sale. I had to explain that it was not save-able. I had to coat-hanger one of the rust-liberated rear control arms in place in order to drag the car to the wreckers!

(Unlike the convertible Firefly I got rid of a couple of years ago, which I genuinely think a patient welder could have saved.)

I don't mind the NEW era!

These days, you can buy a used, decade-old OEM EV with a degraded battery for the same amount of money we put into the ForkenSwift.

Same or better range as the FS (~40-50 km / 25-30 mi.), with vastly better performance & all the creature comforts!

EG. this used hard, put away wet 2012 Leaf for $1500...

I've been half-assedly looking for a used Leaf for my folks. 95% of their transportation needs are short trips, town driving.

You can find well cared for ones for $3k - $4k.

I think it was appropriate that a forklift hauled the Forkenswift on its final journey. Farewell friend and one of the reasons I enjoyed Metros for eight years.
Me and my Metro.
