Yes! The last two posts were definately more along the lines of what I was thinking.

Either a smaller generator, which would actually work, but slow, like the one on the orange van, (I have seen his web page before) or something even smaller and more "science-fair" line a pin-wheel going to a matchbox car.

Did HotWheels ever make a Geo Metro Hatchback?

My main charger runs at 1500 watts, then 1200 watts, then less as the batteries fill. A 400 watt wind turbine would be enough to work for actual charging, but it would certainly be less than 15 amps AC from an outlet.

Here's a (bad) photo of what I was thinking for a basic tower base:

RV Solar Power Kits, Portable RV Wind Generator

Just a fairly simple bracket you park on.

I have seen similar things at sporting events where people tailgate, and have a giant flag on a pole so their friends can find them.

Your idea has similar implications as putting a solar panel on an EV: People often assume you're charging the pack with it, and driving for "free".

A panel may in fact be useful for keeping the 12v battery charged up (if you're not regularly running a DC-DC, as is the case with the ForkenSwift), but making that clarification to everyone who asks will take some effort.

You can be certain that if your goal is to draw attention to and spur conversation about EV's & renewable energy at shows/events, sticking a panel or turbine on your car will accomplish it. In spades.
