New blog post
P5 in progress
$70M in funding (read this elsewhere, might be a couple months old)

I'm going with 65% chance it actually gets made now...

A story about Bosch

A story about Bosch since the new blog post mentions the collaboration with Bosch. One of my coworkers recently left to work for Bosch. They push their engineers extremely hard. He actually saw a group of engineers get fired while he was touring the factory in Mexico City. They had replaced a bracket with something non-standard, and the delay in machining a replacement for the replacement (if you follow me) shut down the production line for ~1 hour.

Apparently the factory is fined something like $10k/minute when the production line stops. I would not want to work for them.

I worked for a European based firm for six years and US based firms for short stints. There are two different forms of corporate culture. In Europe a manager who messes up big time is given a broom or a quick exit. Here one can get a golden parachute. Line workers are expendable unless the union plays tough.

If one wants to build a tricycle motorcycle here in Elmira area I know there are several firms that could supply parts. There are plenty of skilled workers from the aircraft industry. Getting certified engines from Briggs & Stratton or Polaris is a matter of convincing people of your credit. What is holding back Elio is not a conspiracy but a poor business plan.

Amen to that. If the business plan was any smart, it would have already been on the road.

The current elio prototypes are not production ones. They were made by a company that does movie car one off prototypes. Like the place that made the tumbler in batman. I can't remember the reference, but it was either paul or one of the engineers who said this in an interview. If you really want an elio, they can build you one for a couple hundred grand.
