It sounds like they're going the route most of you expected because they can't find funding. Lower production numbers and higher cost. That's a shame. I'm getting the impression they're being too perfectionist... Some of use just want to see some product roll out, regardless of the NVH. I will have to send them an email. Personally, I'm ok spending up to $10k for my Elio.

I really think that one of those billionaires who always pumps philanthropy (Buffett, Zuckerberg, Gates, etc) should step up and buy Elio. As I've said before, 100k Elios on the road would do more good than just about anything else.

If the Elio engine could have been already available as a crate engine for repowerings into old Metros and other featherweight econoboxes from the 80's and 90's, or eventually in industrial and marine versions too, that would be an effective way to raise the cash required to start officially the production of the trikes.

And those do have the power ($$$) to lobby for some laws more favorable to trikes.

As soon as 100k of them are on the road they will be reclassified as cars and need all the emissions, crash standards and testing. At that point it costs more then a Mirage, seats two and gets a 45 mpg epa highway rating. I say buy your new $10,000 Mirage while gas prices are low. It's as close to an Elio that ever will be.

Does anyone actually know the number of times they have pushed back the production date?

2017, 2018, 2019, oops! In dog years its dead. The thrill is gone and I now love my 2004 Range Rover.
